my first cocker i got, my first ever cocker, an 04 prostock...that i upgraded a little (tickler, hollowpoint 3way, eclipse dart bolt, boomstick barrel and a nice shocktech inline reg) it shot 7bps easy and was able to hold that rate for a whole hopper....chrono ratings of 290-294 when i tuned well.
anyways over the same winter in my gear bag. both stopped working.... i traded the x5 which was still brand new 99% with the following problem i will state, for milling work by jcurt on different cocker (i sent it in march and STILL dont have it back so be aware of jcurt's turnaround time, i have been keeping in touch with him)
OK, heres the problem.
you cock the marker,,,, pull the trigger and plop
the hammer barely hits the valve and barely any air is shot. this problem started LAST winter and i cant remember if i tried shooting paint or not....not even sure how much dry fring i tried.
i tried adjusting the ivg and no change....this marker went from smooth as butter with the above chrono readings, and very reliable....to out of nowhere in my gearbag......not working.
i tried taking out the valve (and iv done this many times with this and many other cockers) and its stuck....
i have no valve tool, dont even know what they look like or do in person....iv always gently used an allen wrench.
I CANNOT get the valve out....i assume the poppet is sticky which is why the hammer can barely budge it. any tips on getting a STUCK VALVE BODY out?
im trying to trade my prostock now and he will only take it if -I- fix it first.
my usual method of removing the valve body is through the vlave set screw and gently nudging it out mm by mm with the allen wrench...i was going to take the front block off to push it (valve) out, but my front block screw is very tight and cant losen it either...iv been able to unscrew the front block screw before with pnues still on (or some of them)
what should i do?
is there a different problem im unaware of?
What kind of reg do you have and how many turns in is it? You also may want to try using a stiffer main spring in it. I doubt that it's a problem with the valve or valve pin.
If the reg is set too high the valve will sound like the hammer is not hitting hard enough, but it's really the cup seal having too much pressure pushing on it to close to allow for a good "dwell", turn your reg down to almost off and then up little by little until the FPS start going down again and then turn it back a 1/4 turn, then adjust the IVG to desired FPS.
If you think you're having that problem ungassed then get a spring kit and change the marker's springs.

Even if you can't get the valve out you can check if the valve is stuck. Take out the hammer and try to push the valve stem with a screwdriver or metal rod. If it's stuck try dropping in some oil and give it a couple of light taps to see if you can unstick it. Once unstuck work the oil in, reassemble the gun and try it again.
