Can anybody relate to me? Or am I all alone??? (Rant on a bad day)

I have been one of paintball's biggest fanatics for about 10 years now... I grew up playing with a small group of very good helpful supportive friends who nurtured my way into the sport.
I have played tournament ball, rec ball, pump ball,I have organized huge bachelor party's, refereed hundreds of hours of play and had the majority of my best memories with "the boys" every Sunday chilling out at the field. Hundreds of totally random people who by the end of the day almost always ended up treating you just like they knew you for years and where all your best friends.

Then I had to grow up a bit moved away worked on a drill rig 14 days on 7 days off started slipping on my play. Then Became a Hydronic Engineer in training...

It's been 2 years now i've sat on the sideline and watched the sport from a distance but being a work-aholic and paying bills has kept me on the sideline for what I thought was way too long.

So just finishing my schooling this past week I met some good guys who happen to of wanted to get back into the grind with me and get out and enjoy some good ol' ball like we remembered it...

I gased up my markers... WOW they both aired up no leaks no broken o-rings no problems AND chronograph at about 280... This must be a sign. I ordered a few spare parts and got a new bottle regulator i'm ready to go.

Now before people get offended I live in Calgary Alberta Canada so i'm speaking for my own area and this is my experience so no offence to the rest.

It was hell... I love playing with kids and new guys not because i'm better than they are but because they are only there to have a good time and shoot some paint. This tonight however was not the case. On drop in night there where TONS of well seasoned players whos only intention was to bonus ball the ****ing hell out of every newb player there. Every game I was shot the **** out of well after being hit putting up my marker (which was also shot) then walking off the field (also being shot in the back again) BY SEASONED PLAYERS.

Now I expect this from new guys, you sit them down say hey no need for this and they learn. Again, not the case tonight. All of these guys where kids 14-20 parents sitting there supporting them like it is Canadian JR hockey and killing is the only way to have fun. I just couldn't believe that this is what I walked back into after sooo many years of good solid memories.

Why do they do this? Full auto bull****, bonus balling the hell out of the future ballers. The only ones who continue to play are the ones who are negative as hell and repeat what happened to them. YOU are the ones who ruin the sport and in my opinion HAVE ruined the sport. It's not fun on a WALK ON night ,where I want to play some hopper ball with my friends, to annaliate the **** out of every poor little guy who is excited as hell just to be there and take away what I always thought the sport to be FUN...

The players where ALMOST all *******s, the parents where brutal, kids where almost in tears because they couldn't get a shot off but could get shot 10 times before they ran off and I had to say something somewhere because this isn't paintball as I remembered.

Anybody feel the same way? Or did I write too much

with all the paint in the air these days, getting shot a few extra times isn't really unheard of... no one has yet to die from it. I've been playing for 15 years, long enough to know that when I get shot I cover my neck and balls and make the quickest, lowest run to the sidelines that I can muster...
but when people just stand up out of their bunkers and get mad they got in the way of my stream of paint already in the air it makes me just as mad as when people complain about poor reffing.
btw if you went to a field that allowed the use of full auto modes I wouldn't go back there again - since it's likely not an insured proper field... i've yet to play at a field that allowed it or even ramping that wasn't during an xball event.

my suggestion - if you want to play hopper ball with friends, grab them all up, grab a ref and head off to your own field, or maybe make reservations as a private group.'

yeah, you seem to have a local cluster of an infestation of agglets.

\warning, get ready for the damn typos/

Agglets are a swarming type of pest/rodent that are rather weak and or timid on thoer own. but due to actual agglet social behavioral problems and lack of structure in the household, agglets turn any concivable fun and ruin it through over dramtaization of the simplest acts. (ie, competing where there is no competition, playing for glory where there is no glory) ****ing drama queens.

Agglets leave behind large ammounts of waste and consume great resources at the expese of others. Both drains on tangible goods and upon the human soul. (someone else's soul, as agglets dont have souls) Once a Agglet has afixiated itslef within a new surrounding it manipulates and parasiticly attaches itself to leach what it wants. untill the host and surrounding area is left but a hollow shell of its former self.

Agglet mating seems to be very little use as impetence has plagued the genome for ages. as such agglets attemot to cliam dominance through its ways. Once an agglet finds a home, only more agglets will come. and the only way agglets can spawn is if the find a heathy person of little intelligence,
fill them with delusions of grandeur, and repicate the genome of the original agglet into the new host.

Common ways to curb agglet prominence within the area.....

the 2 inch penis rule,

pros, no agglet can play.

cons, may be looked down by local authorities.

cranial destruction via 12 guage.

pros, most efficient

cons, waste of ammo, too many bodies. wait, bodies give agglets the respect of calling them human. carcas. there we go.

scrutiny of intellectual aptitude.

pros, keeps out all agglets and potential would be agglets.

cons, takes to long adminsitering the assement, inefficient.

Sounds like the field needs to step up and tell team players to come on team nights.
My field here in Edmonton would kick seasoned team players off the field for sure. They have two team nights for them to practice. Its the walk on kids that keep the sport going, its bad for business to let players like that on the field on walk on days.

Make them play no hopper and only whatever paintballs they can carry in their other hand.

Hey man, i'm not complaining about getting over shot... I can take overshot. I don't bruse very easily i'm a big boy no problems there... I'm only complaining about seasoned guys who know better when i'm the last guy on the field 1 on 2 put my gun up it gets shot a few times then I stand up and get lit up again? I don't believe anybody who tells me "Oh I thought there where more guys there thats what I had to shoot you in the back of the head 5 times" come on dude...

But what hurts me is the fact that showing up to play some ball shouldn't be about having to bonus ball the **** out of the other guys playing rough because thats what they deserve. It should be hangin out with your friends taking some shots chilling out after the game and then doing it again.

Having to wade my way through a ****storm of *******s just to find 2 nice guys last night who where having just as hard of a time as me but just love to play is dissapointing and discouraging.

if playing at the local field isn't fun, find a new field - that one won't survive very long with those conditions.
I drive an hour and half to my field - passing up two others on the way because they are full of the same type of people you are describing.

sometimes, people come to the field I play at and talk a lot, and try to play big... there are about 7 rookie level teams that play there - so it's not without reason, but people take it way too serious... it's supposed to be about fun

Yea i'm talking about Rampage... And I never complained how terrible that was set up either... but it wasn't my biggest problem.

You guys ever go to a field where they don't have a chrono and nobody was checked for velocity ALL NIGHT... Needless to say there where a lot of guys shooting hot as well... sigh...

I'm going to keep looking around to try to find a good group of guys to just hang out with.... i'm sure they are out there just need to do some digging around.

Which day are you talking about? The only day that is not divided is Veterans night. When you go there, expect to get beaten down because it's a talented group of players going out there. Friday's and Sunday's are divided though, there shouldn't be many complaints as there is 4 groups; Renters, beginners, rookies, experienced. It's hard to judge your post too as you sound like everyone is intentionally bonus balling. When I have gone up there, I have had no problems. Extra shots happen, unless you're getting posted on and followed back off the field, it's no bonus balling.
