dropoff during low bps with clone

i encountered a weird problem at practice yesterday. dropoff and low velocity when i shoot at low bps. it worked fine when shooting ropes. it worked fine the day before, havent messed with the board, so i have no clue what could cause the problem.

my first thoughts went to bolt stick, so i opened it up, and looked at the amount of lube on the bolt\drivetrain, and removed some of the lube. it didnt work. ABS parameter at 5 ms. upped the dwell to 14, and that didnt solve the problem either. it got a bit better, but didnt fix it completely. i also thought about adjusting the OP, but playing with reballs and chronoing above 260 isnt a good idea.

the only difference from the day ot worked fine, and the nex day is OP, and paint\reballs. OP @~280 with paint, shoot fine. next day, OP @~245 with reballs, "bolt stick" like mad

does anyone have any suggestions to what might be the problem and\or a solution to the problem?

What is the serial # of your Clone? The first 20 had valves that need to be replaced.

recieved mail from MacDev, and they stated that my clone in fact have a new valve, even though my serial# is below the 20, as stated by sumorai. who is mistaken here and who is correct?
also, what is the difference on the two valves?

here is the best way to make sure you have the correct valve;

take out the valve and power tube from the valve keg.

remove the biggest o-rings (17 x 1)

slide the valve back down into the bore the correct way and check to make sure the bottom o-ring is making contact.

tried that, and it seems like the bottom o-ring makes contact. i have one of the new valves for sure then.

then what is it causing my gat to shoot low when im shooting slow ?
it is not bolt stick, ABS set at 5 ms, dwell at 14.

Maybe give your reg a quick look over as well. It could be dry, or something internally may be out of whack, like the shim stack if it still has shims. I haven't seen the new gladiators so I'm not so sure.

The Clone's reg uses the spring.

Good to know. It could still be running dry though. Drop off during slow firing is weird. The only thing that would make sense in that case is extreme bolt stick.

i am pretty sure it is not bolt stick, as i relubed the bolt, and removed some line when that didnt help. Even that did not help.

Lubed the reg some. Some of the o-rings there seemed to be a bit dry, so i put on some lube there. Ill report back when i have shoot it some more and see if it helped.

I had your problem Tagachi. And I just got the new valve. Solved the problem. So try changing the orings on the valve first to see whether it seals. Then if that doesn't help, get a new valve from Macdev.

ill try that, but after taking a look in the small spare part bag that followed, i dont think i can find an o-ring that is the right size there I have shoot a mail to oringmonkey about Clone orings, but havent heard anything from them yet

the 3 orings on my valve are insanely small, talking about maybe 1mm thick
and according to Macdev, i have one of the new valves xD

Yeah they are 17 x 1s, very much thinner compared to the ones on the Droid valve. This is so that to reduce drag.

I will let David(Oringmonkey) know that you are looking for the Clone oring kits. Will ask him to message you.

Try shooting with the reg done first. I'm still thinking it's bolt stick. Probably due to a part that is machined a bit off of specs. Is there a way you can cycle the bolt back and forth manually without air just to see how easily it moves? If it seems stiff, especially at the beginning or end of the travel then there is probably something not quite right. Either an oring that is the wrong size, or a part that is the wrong size for the oring. See if you can narrow it down somehow.

the bolt feels all fine when i cycle it with my fingers, and it moves smooth and fine. i fail to notice any stiffness. Do the Geo HPR work with a clone? If yes, i can try to swap HPR, and find some more answers

Geo HPR should work just fine. The PE regs are decent.

It could be the reg equivalent of bolt stick. The tolerances in MD stuff are tight and it took a little while for my reg piston to move freely (RX). It was stiff at first.
