Webcam Driver Open Fail - Help!

I have a Toshiba Satellite m305d laptop with Vista 64bit. that I purchased about a year ago. For some reason after having my motherboard replaced, the webcam will not work. Whenever I go into my Device Manager, there *should* be an Imaging section with the webcam being under that tab, but there isn't even an Imaging section anymore. I've installed the drivers for the camera assistant software from Toshiba's website SEVERAL times, along with uninstalling, rebooting, running CCleaner, rebooting, and installing the drivers again, but to no avail. If anyone has any idea how I could make my webcam work outside of this assistant software, and solely off of a messenger service, that would be great. The only thing I have installed on this laptop is Skype, something I've never used (came with the laptop) and it doesn't even show the webcam on there, which leads me to think Vista isn't picking up the drivers.

Any ideas? Thanks!

in device manager, tell it to look for hardware changes (under one of the menus, don't remember which offhand) and see if it picks anything up. that, or select "view hidden devices" and see if it's in there anywhere.

I tried both of those and still it's giving me the same error code. I have the camera assistant software installed, which is a step up from it not even being on my computer at all. Whenever I click on the software to actually start the camera, that's when the error message of "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer."
