Do you agree with the White House that Fox news is not news?

Well...do ya?

I think it's half and half. Of course they have the Becks and the "All American Hannity" and what not whose sole purpose in life is to trash Obama because he's a racist and pals around with terrorists, but they also have Shepard Smith, whom I really enjoy. Maybe it's just his voice. Soothing to my ears.

Anyhoo, anyone with a brain can tell you Fox leans right. That's why I watch Fox half the time, because I'm half conservative. The White House claims Fox isn't pushing news, they are pushing a perspective. I believe that is a fair assessment, given the programing on Fox.

What do you say?

Objective reporting? Or Perspective reporting?

Yep. Fox News is not news. When you have an entire "news" network whoring itself out in the promotion of a protest, it's not a news agency. When you have an entire "news" network that repeatedly and frequently fails to factcheck their stories, it's not a news agency.

Your polling options are (as they usually are) skewed to your own predetermined answers. Bias itself doesn't preclude them from reporting factual news. Fox News precludes themselves from reporting factual news.

So my answer is: No, Fox News is not a news agency because Fox News has a problem with reporting facts.

Sorry CL, I thought my options were fair and balanced for all sides to give their honest opinion on. I'm only human. No nefarious secret plan to get the answer that I am searching for. I already answered my POV and can only speak for myself.

Oh don't take it personally - I'm not flaming you and it's not meant as an insult. I'm just pointing out that the options presented don't give the chooser much room to pick which accurately represents their answer. "No - Fox is biased" doesn't really answer the question: Is Fox News not news?

Thanks for putting up the poll anyways. People in here would probably attack the poster instead of the argument if I or somebody else had posted it.

If we're literal, fox news does give you SOME news. It's the editing and commentary that are biased. Quite biased at that.

most "news" isn't news unfortunately. I would hardly call anything on the major news networks news. Even the evening news shows for the most part, as they might have about 5 minutes of actual news being reported and then the rest of the show devoted to some feel good story about a kid in Nebraska

Unbiased news is an oxymoron.

You start to have problems when people group news broadcasts with social commentary shows like The O'Reilly Factor. They are not the same... Glenn Beck isn't news, Countdown with Keith Olbermann isn't news, The Rachel Maddow Show isn't news, Hannity isn't news, Lou Dobbs Tonight isn't news. They are political talk shows that just happen to be hosted by a national news station.

Fox's actual news broadcasts aren't that bad. They have a right wing slant, but the rest of the US cable news networks have a left wing slant. I don't watch any of them if I'm actually looking for information about something.

It's obviously a news channel. It just incredibly slanted commentary shows as well. The same can be said of any news channel or broadcast.

Yes, but even the real "news" segments are guilty of rampant lies passed off as factual news. They're also complicit in the promotion of the FNC political campaigns, rather than just sticking to reporting about them.

"most balanced" doesn't mean anything when the balance is struck between lies and bull**** talking points versus fluff news pieces. That's a balance that shouldn't exist in news media.

Fair and balanced indeed.

At the end of the day, Fox has more balanced news stories in the country, maybe even the world.
