Old Impluse + Shocker board = Neat

I was wondering if anyone has put a shocker board into an older impulse. I finally finished my project and I have a psp old impulse.
Just wondering how others have done the mod. Also some getto mods to get more out of my pulse.

never heard of anyone doing it. would be a cool idea. dont think it would be hard to mount the board so the trigger hit the switch, but you would have to figure out the whole daughter/vision board and solenoid stuff since the shocker has the board mounted to the noid. the imp board will just plug in.
they use similar noids...
if you get it to work post up! would be awesome to get a nice board in an imp.

not much for "ghetto" mods. cut your bolt. cut the body/half block it. you can take the screw out of the front cap and put an old cocker lpr for some better performance for cheap...

they use the same noid. it wouldn't be that hard to solder the connector from the imp board to the shocker upper board. i think it could be done rather easily.

The way I put things together.

I think I did things the hard way. There is not enough room for the shocker board and daughter board to sit in the tray. So I put the shocker board and battery in the grip frame. Put the shocker upper board in the tray. Cut up the broken impulse board becuase all I needed was the micro switch and the on/off button. Ran jumpers off of the two switches to the shocker board and shocker upper board. The eyes plug right into the shocker upper board so I used the impulse eye. I can use shocker break beam eyes but I did not want to show that anything has changed to the impulse.
I ended up putting tape on the ram housing to reduce space and ran lines through it to make it similar to the newdesignz ram housing. Cut down on the brass hammer to make alittle lighter. Threaded the front for an lpr and cut the tape worm to accept a nipple for the lpr. Cut the feedneck to make it a clamping feed neck.
Now all I need is a newdesignz valve and I will be totally set.
I will post pictures to show the work. Not to hard and I will soon have a virtue oled impulse board.
not bad for 50 dollar freakfactory impulse.

The natives demand pics and destructions - I mean instructions - on how to make this happen. I'm not calling shens, no doubt it's possible, but dammit we wanna see this!

Send them to me: jbthompson@live.com

I'll host them for you so you can show people how it works. I've got nothing beter to do, as I have also been hit with the preverbial brick we call the flu. Though, I've got a nasty ear infection which is making things more interesting.

im excited to see. this would be awesome if its a fairly straighforeward easy mod.
the only downside i can see is that the mod may cause the flu!

Okay sorry for the delay guys. It was a bit of a rough day today so i'm just getting around to posting this.

Here's the how-to, directly from Will. I've edited it to make it a bit easier to read, but for the most part, it's just how he sent it to me, with the pics he sent me as well.

As a disclaimer: I didn't write this how-to; I am simply hosting the pics and adding the content at Will's (Thrilliam) request. If you mess up your gun, your board, or anyhting else, I'm not responsible. Any questions, please direct them to the brains of this little operation.

Will, feel free to quote this and edit it as you see fit, so that readers can get a better understanding of what they're seeing.

And here we go:

Everything has plugs so you can take it fully apart. The shocker upper board accepts the [Impulse] eye the way it is.

Unsolder the [solenoid] plug from the Impulse board and resoldered it to the Shocker board.

[Run] two wires off of the on/off switch on the Impulse (the two copper areas on the on/off switch are where you solder to). Then the wires to the switch get soldered to the on/off [switch leads] on the Shocker board.

[For the] trigger switch, just run two jumpers on the first and second prongs to the first and second prongs on the shocker bottom board. You will have to unsolder the micro switch [from] the Shocker’s bottom board.

The main problem was to mill down the inside of the frame [so it will] accept the Shocker bottom board. The other issue that is tough to work with is the length of the cable that runs from the shocker bottom board to the Shocker’s upper board. It all fits and works just fine.

You can order a shocker 09 tournament board from Smart Parts for 28.00 which include shipping. The GREAT thing is they will include the shocker upper board, connection cable, and the 09 shocker tournament board with the new 10 bps. The board is also break beam compatible so I know I can make it break beam but I did not want anyone to know what was on the inside when I play.
Fun stuff. Good luck and if more pictures are needed I can take more later.
Thanks
w

question: how much did you mill down the trigger frame? Do we know whether or not it it will fit an OTB or an Iframe?

What would be the advantage of this over, say, the Universal T-board, or the WAS (which i couldn't ask more out of)?
