The Largest Gang in America: Who will police the police?

I'm not one to engage in unfounded anti-police sentiment, but this video really does open your eyes. The police have come a long way from being the traditionally viewed 8-sided hat wearing friendly neighborhood public servants.

It's about an hour long, but worth the watch, there's some pretty shocking things that happen, and they're all objective and valid viewpoints on blatant abuses of power.

Here.

That being said, I realize that not every police officer is like this, and that they do put their lives on the line on a daily basis, but the danger here, is the fact that ordinary citizens are ultimately powerless against these abuses, and the only way the public finds out is from people who operate under cover. A cop that works in good faith would have a hard time exposing fellow cops for any number of reasons. Basically, who polices the police?

no one, corruption gets swept under the rug, so the public can still trust them.

Your always going to have a few bad apples in the bunch. The key here is MOST cops are there to do the job. They are good people at heart, trying to do the right thing.

What needs to be done, is to weed out the bad ones. Ferret them out and expose them, make sure they can never work again (at ANY job) by posting them up publicly.

Look I am a HUGE supporter of LEO, I have a great deal of respect for them...but even I have met a few bad ones in my days.

You obviously didn't even watch the video. Kind of hard to comment on it when you haven't seen it.

funny thing, the origins of the phrase "a few bad apples" is "a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch" (may be paraphrased slightly). The message being if you do not diligently hunt out and remove bad apples soon enough they're all bad.

if they aren't allowed to work, won't they just be living off your tax dollars?

so basically, kill them, right? that's going to be your response, right?

what do i win?

If you think bad apples in the police are bad, go look at politics.

A politician can't beat me up and hurt my feelings; a deranged cop can.

Well look at police "brotherhood" organizations where police will view another officer doing something out of line, and not report it. Its almost a gaurantee that a cop will not rat out another cop, and they get serious penalties for doing so, such as being ostracized from the rest of the force. Power corrupts. And when you put people who are pretty stupid in a position of power, you get a bunch of mongrels who can't control how they use their power.

Not to mention I'd bet 90% of them have no idea what the constitution or bill of rights contain. I used to keep copies of both documents in my glove box...

Got alot of laughs.

That absolutley made me sick... they absolutely think they are above the law and are getting away with it. Most of them from what I got... just got slaps on the wrist. Are they not supposed to be held to a higher standard?

Definitely. Like I said, not all LEO's are like that, but yea there's some real messed up **** that goes on. I can't believe Chapter 2 (you'll see it when you watch it, it's kind of terrifying), that's really what ground my gears.

Police hardly have a monopoly on abusing the trust and power that is placed in their hands.
