I installed H.I.D's. Pictures!. Slight issue also.

NOW BEFORE WE START, YES I INSTALLED THEM IN A FACTORY NON PROJECTOR HOUSING. HOWEVER IM NOT RETARDED AND HAVE AIMED THEM PROPERLY. Had a buddy drive by opposite of me to see and he said they were bright, but were not aimed at him or in his eyes at all

So today i decided that was it, i was absolutely tired with the ****ty *** lighting on my Camaro.

Off I go to some hole in the wall computer shop that sells H.I.D kits also, run by an Asian (no offence, im not racist, he was a nice guy). Looks a little fishy, but its a 3 month exchange, bulbs are 70 for the pair, and theres a 1 year factory warranty.

I currently already have the eurolight sealed beam conversion kit so the car can run normal bulbs. (9005 on high, 9006 on low I believe.)

Picture of the ****ty lights with what i started.

Note: The reason the pass side highbeam was missing was because the lense had taken a rock breaking it open, i luckily had saved all my factory sealed bulbs. I swapped and sealed a new lense on hehe

At this point i get the car up on the ramps and remove the plastic underbelly and air damn.

I grab my trusty drill and begin to predrill and install my ballasts. There was not much room anywhere else, so i figured down there would be out of the way and unseen.

Drivers side

Drivers side again

Passenger side

At this point im quite happy with what's becomming of this, its looking pretty damn clean at this point. I hook up all the bulbs(all plug in n play) and let er rip.

The reason they are so blue is because they had just been turned on. They are 6000k lights and whiten up quite nicely on the highway.

HUGE DIFFERENCE IN LIGHTING NOW. Very pleased with the results.

However, i now have a slight issue. Which im thinking/hoping may be a coincidence.

The low beams work fine, the high beams work fine. However the issue im now having is that when i turn the fog lights on with the low beams, the light on the switch is very dim, and the highbeam indicator on the dash comes on slightly(very dim also)

Im no electrical expert, but is this not caused by a bad ground somewhere? Power going somewhere it shouldnt be I.E: Highbeams. Both sides share the same ground for fogs/headlights(low and high) on each side. This further proves this point I think.

Anyways it was not doing this before installing the H.I.D's, but I was under there moving wires around and tieing them up to make it look a bit cleaner. Maybe i moved or loosened something up.

From what ive seen in the electrical diagram in the Haynes/chilton manuals, i should be fine with running nice new individual grounds from my lights, which should solve my problem i imagine.

However its almost 4 am here and im tired, so i figured 2nd,3rd opinions..etc would be welcome

Thanks in advance.

Valid post, will read again.

The only way projectors are fitting is if i modify the entire bracket area for a totally different bulb/housing. There isnt much aftermarket out there for LT1 guys in terms of lighting.

my friends does the same thing. hes done new grounds, and a 1/0 gauge wire from the alt to the battery and its still a little dimmer. they just take more power than standard halogen bulbs. and dont leave them on. he left them on for like 30 minutes and his battery wouldnt start the car.

Just by looking at the pictures you posted, those will without a doubt glare the **** out of everyone on the road. Take those out you douche. I'm going blind looking at the picture and it's not because you drive a Camaro for once.

What the hell? HID's use LESS power than halogen bulbs.

A 35 watt China ballast pulls about 3/3.5 amps.

A 65 watt headlight bulb pulls..... 65W/13.5V= 4.81 amps.

There are lots of cars HIDs don't look good on. Your car is one of those.

I'm personally pretty tired of seeing HIDs on everything from Jeeps to minivans. Rather then admit people want them purely for the looks, they try to back up their claims saying their purple cheap chinese HIDs are for better illumination, which just isn't the case. If your lights suck, it's because they were in weathered housings, the same exact housings that they are in now.

Thanks for blinding everyone though, that's always nice. If you aimed them to the point where they weren't blinding, then you're right back where you started with ****ty illumination.

Who the **** are you anyways? Its a ****ing safety issue, the lights before you could barely see anything at night with them unless it was a VERY clear night.

These use less amps, im beginning to wonder if its a resistance issue perhaps?

I dont flash people highbeams anyways. Ive driven last night on a 2 lane highway, and not ONE person has flashed me for having too bright of lights yet.

The picture is with a cell phone camera, after they are on for about 5 minutes, they look just like silverstar ultras.

The housings are fine they are only a year old, its the output i was getting out of the lights that was the issue. Ask ANYONE with a LT1 Camaro. Light output has always been a Issue with these cars.

Like i said, ive aimed the lights and was driving on a 2 lane highway last night for over 2 hours. Light Output is definitly MUCH better, and yet i did not get flashed once.

IT IS possible to run these without blinding the **** out of people in a non projector housing.

If i start getting flashed ALOT then i will remove them, simple. So far its been a non issue though.
