so im in the home stretch of my sr swap in my 240. but to my surprise i take out the fuel pump assembly and there was no gasket between the lid and the tank itself. my pump, all the walls of the gas tank, and even the wiring to the pump is totally encrusted with brown sandy textured stuff. im pretty sure a whole new gas tank is in need, or is this normal?

camera dies after second picture but u can see the brown stuff im talkin about, could be rust, or oxidization or whatever. i touched the small hose in the second picute with my fingure and its the consistency of bubblegum. s13 gastank msrp is $326

+ Fuel pump and lines for sure. Look at the bright side. Get a Walbro, go to a junk yard and see if you can get a gastank. Search the forums....nico,zilvia,240sxforums,TR.... Maybe even look for a 500 dollar parts car to get everything out of.
that fuel pump has had wiring repairs before too. just replace it.

POR15 is a tonne of work on small tanks, i wouldnt recomend it on a large one.
