I here to talk trash for all the germans, trash talk is the second best thing I do. Shooting fools is #1, and it looks to me like im gonna git to do both. Ive read all the posts on both sides so far and you russians are dead wrong. Silentnightmare what is that anyway, what crying youreself to sleep with youre pillow over youre head? I dont have nightmares I have dreams of russians coverd in paint, but I guess that is youre nightmare. So when its all said and done, and you finaly wipe the paint from youre mask to see what happend, youll find me and the other M.B.Ps standing above you laughing.
After the Nam 09 game we received some feed back about the game and one of the areas that we feel needs to be addressed is the night game.
We have talked to some players that are avid NV and night time players and I would like to announce that at the the Russian Front we will be paying better attention to the night game.
The field will be bigger and if enough night vision players play there will be missions geared for you.
We are also trying to equip refs with night vision to ensure safer play.
If there are any NV and night players out there that want to give me there 2 cents don't hesitate to PM me.
Tanks:
We think we have solved the tank insertion problem, that will be explained at the field.
Tanks will be able to go off road except in the trench area.
There will be some rules about off road like you can not plow through a large bush that some one might be hiding behind but if you think that you could get from one trail to another by going through the trees and the ref agrees then go for it. (if you get stuck than your dead meat ).
Pond:
The pond area will be back in play.
Rich got so beat up because the pond was not in play for the Nam game that he is just recovering from the wounds.
We are also working on opening up some of the field that hasn't been in play for a couple of years.
Tanks:
We think we have solved the tank insertion problem, that will be explained at the field.
A more indepth explanation on the tank rules would be great. I have teams that want to bring tanks but are concerned in doing so after bad experiences at previous events. Major concerns are limiting the amount of LAW rockets on the field per side and the insertion problem as stated above..... Anymore info on those issues would be great.
PS: Pond opening back up as in "Saigon"???! I hope so! lol

One of the problems with tanks is that tanks don't ask or get support. I had a tanker say the same thing (too many law's ), when I asked if he had support for the tank he said no.
We are hesitant to limit laws because players like to use what they build or buy just like tankers so tanks should get support for there tanks.

Just to make things clear, we tried to insert ground support with us and were told by the ref that we could not.Lemme get this right-I have hundreds of dollars into my tank and shoot a minimum of 10 cases of paint per weekend and Little Johnny with his $10 worth of PVC and a $2 rocket mean more to you? GREAT business sense.

little johnny isnt the only one with a law. some of us have as much into our launchers as others have into their tanks. our team have both a tank and multiple launchers and the cost of our launchers well out way the cost of the tank.
its not about you or me its about the whole group and what comes closer to pleasing the majority not the minority.
the one big thing that seems to be a growing issue lately is when refs make bad calls nobody approaches the owner or producer to clarify it or fix the problem.
im guessing (this only a guess) the refs were probably confused by either the 20 foot rule with the support or the location of the insertion. that could have been addressed and fixed at that game. im also gonna guess it was worked around and never brought up until after the game ?
this debate goes back many years and both tanks and laws need to be considered. if you limit laws to 3 each per launcher then the tanks need a time limit like 5 - 10 minutes on them as well to keep them from controlling the field. and yes if they would control the field as we have done it several times and that why our tank doesnt hit the field anymore.
plus, even if your ground support cant insert with you they need to meet up with you. a tank without ground support wont go to far and its not very smart tanking.

I have to agree with you Freak. I really hate to see launchers and/or tanks be limited to a time limit or an amount. As both tankers and LAW crews spend a lot of money on their equipment, its a shame that you may not be able to use it. My whole thing was that tanks and troops should be able to insert in the same area so that you can send a ground force in with them. I know that at NJ NAM thats what Chuck and I did.
But in any case, this should be another good event and i cant wait to see every1.

and an example of costs:
we have 3 Havoc launchers - $1000
we have 4 JCS launchers - $1100
we have atleast 100 Nerf rockets - $200
and countless Nerf rockets we've lost collectively - $300 - $500
our total Team cost for tank killing = $2600 - $2800 give or take
so we have coved the tank cost and have more bodies involved in the cost and i get the point about the waste of time and money.
There is another discussion about tanks and laws on the Nam thread and I think we will incorporate some of those ideas into the Russian front game to see how they work.
I am very proud that at any Phenix game you can always come up to the game trailer which is located right next to the road at the entrance of the field and find the producers that are running the game to clarify any rule. We also have a head ref that is on the field who can make any call and knows the rules because he wrote them.

O.K $9000 kawasaki mule VS. $2800 in LAWS. Nuff Said. Also , at NAM there were rocket launchers set up 20 yards from our insertion.We werent allowed ground support. We didnt even get all our tires on the field and were shot out. This is BS. There should aleast be a buffer zone to allow the tanks to insert.We could see the launchers laying there but we wouldnt shoot across tape lines to kill them.

so if we buy 10 more cases of paint than you guys or even any other Team do we get some sort of special treatment. its not about the cost of one tank, that was my point. its not about the cost of 10 tanks its about the overall game.
i see your point and believe me i hear ya. we had the same issue at Nam 07 and we didnt get anywhere until our ground troops (who were already in the game on the field) got enough push over to the tank insertion (which was in a different location than the players) and cleared the laws for us to get into the game. this went on for about an hour. i hear what your saying.
even if you want to go with the "back then" approach : a tank didnt roll up into an area that held a good chance of having laws in it without having eyes confirm it or troops clear those laws. there is a tactical issue with all this that stands the test of time which is as easy as dont bring a knife to a gun fight. even if your guys werent inserting with you for ground support they needed to move to that area and clear the laws. the same problem arises when one side is pushed back to their insertion and the players cant get back on the field cause the whole other side is waiting for them to pop in and get shoot right out. their paint wouldnt be limited to fix that and the only way to work through that without restarting the opposition way back is to make a big push and clear the area. same priciple. and i do know what your saying and i understand and agree it sucks but it is part of the game with no good fix. limiting the number of rockets isnt the solution unless your gonna limit the amount of paint the tank can use as well. if the tanks are favored and they run the field the shoe is then on the other foot so that didnt really fix anything.
this exact debate has gone back and forth forever and probably will continue forever.
and if i made a tank out of a Beamer i would have your mule trumped by a few thousand.
