ya its off topic but its a cause to celebrate.
I FINALLY got rid of 56k and got high speed internet. This means I can for the first time at my own home browse through the pic threads, watch the videos, and eventually upload my own.
And, this is special because I live to far out of town to get dsl or cable, and I finally found a solution. Wireless 768/768 kbps

I live in Seattle, and work construction. At most jobs I go to, I just open my Notebook, and there is always somebody with an un-encrypted wireless I can tap into.
Free high speed wireless. I love this country!

1.5 up and down on cable would be nice, your lucky I guess a lot of cable isp cap the upload, my friend ups at 260kbps and dl at 1533kbps. like I said thoughmy only choices were dial or 768/768 wireless, though slower than cable its still SO much faster than dial up, so I'm happy.

Yeah, very lucky, and I don't know how long it'll last.
I'm in a new development, so the bandwidth isn't really being hogged up yet, and they just upgraded to all fiber.

for $40 a month?!?!? Damn, who's your provider - that's REALLY cheap for wireless broadband. I pay more than that for DSL!

acid you ever go wardriving with your notebook?

when i lived in AZ we did it a couple times and witht he programs to map all the different open connections you can almost map a continuous connection around the town....not that you really need it while driving but it was cool to know you had free wireless just about anywhere....
my home cable line is nice for DL but crap for uploading, the T1 at work is nice though =)

goober07, i'm happy for you =) modem isnt the way to go. rememberd when i swithed from 28.8 modem to 512Kbit cable 5yrs ago. what a thrill =)

edit: i pay $57/month here in Sweden for a 24Mbit down, 1Mbit up ADSL2+ connection.

clearly a lot of you have much faster connection than me haha 24mb dl vs my 768kb dl is almost like 768 vs 56k. but hey more power to you. I'm looking forward to checking out the pics and vids that I never could here. pbn with broadband is like a whole new site compared to dial up.
my provider is lightspeed wireless. its a local division of DNS wireless (I think so anyways)
on a side note if i had a lot more $$ I could have got one of the higher service plans, they have (down/up) 768/768, 1.5/768, i think 1.5/1.5, and i know 2/2. they have fiber optic servers also haha. the tower is like 5-6 miles away but i still have an awsome connection, the guy said almost as good as in town
