Peeps, I have not seen this scenario before so I am unsure on how to continue. I have a MDF which has a Fortinet Fortigate 600C that then goes to a HP 3500 Core switch, from the 3500 it goes to an unmanaged Netgear. The VLAN info for the unmanaged switch port is 10.65.1.X 255.255.255.0 10.65.1.1. I have an IDF closet with a rack of switches (building 9) on a total different VLAN. Building 9 has a fiber homerun back to the 3500 HP. I have an extra port in a VLAN9 HP Managed switch that I need to make the same as the 10.65.1.X VLAN. Is this possible?

Thanks!

Erm, put the unmanaged switch on the same MGMT VLAN (Not Service VLAN) VLAN's don't require IP's and DNS etc..... They are just tagged with a number (generally 1-9999) and pushed out to its destination with the switches routing.

do your switches allow for VLAN stacking?

Plug routers into routers to increase your NAT depth for more security

I also recommend plugging switches into themselves. It's like a particle accelerator for your network!

Be sure to disable STP (Slow Transfer Protocol) if you want to see 100gbps+ speeds

Yea. My college calls my networking classes CIS (computer information sciences).

Damn Network+ is boring when you already know half the courses content. Just need it as a pre req for future network classes

And its a AAS degree which does not transfer over to a University.

Over here in Mississippi I'm working on my AAS in Networking Technology/Networking Security. We can complete the 2 year at HindsCC and it transfers to Southern Miss and I can get a BS in computer science.

Well, I am about 1-2 weeks away from being confident enough to take my CCENT (ICND1) test. Any last minute tips/recommendations?
