RF for hoppers

I don't have any experience with RF personally (and don't own any current hoppers), but assuming this type of technology isn't patented by Empire, what is stopping other companies from using it? I suppose it could be difficult fitting an extra board into a hopper (unless it was put into the stock board and software) and gun - but is there really any technology as perfect as this? You pull the trigger and it tells the hopper to feed another ball - why do other companies (virtue/dye) not utilize this? I would think it would help avoid issues like jamming/tension/not feeding consistently.

Maybe cost is an issue? But it seems like some people would maybe be willing to pay extra for RF capability in other hoppers if it's as consistent as it should be.

V2 prophecy has built in RF you just get a magna RF kit and you are golden.

Well, I've never used it despite having owned several hoppers that support it because you do have to buy the add-in board for your marker. Considering I've never had problems with feeding without RF, I've never had a reason to spend the money on the RF add-ins.

I needed RF for my Vcom never needed it before then. I also think $40 retail is too much cash for RF but lucky for you ANS has them at:

Our Price: $39.50
Sale Price: $16.95
You save $22.55

So it was so smooth the hopper didn't sense the shot?

Sweet, I've tried getting a hold of empire's customer service via e-mail, calling, and both for kee action sports as well. I also asked the customer support chat at ANS gear and they just said they don't know. Several days have gone by and I've yet to hear anything, and this saves me from starting a new thread! Win-Win! Now down to it. I just got a Vice in the mail and have a prophecy v2 on the way (first electro setup and wanted to do it right). There is a Tadao Yakuza board in the vice. Will the Magna Drive RF Transmitter work to send signal from the Yakuza to the Prophecy for an RF setup?

TL;DR: Yakuza board + (THIS PART) + Prophecy V2 = RF FUN?

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Most solenoid wires use the same plugs, so that should be able to plug into your solenoid wiring fine.

That's cool if it needs a quick wire harness change or something, I've done stuff like that before. Also, decent at soldering/ have a setup for arduino work. I really just need to know if the transmitter is the right one haha. Thanks!

Oh yea it looks like the magna/prophecy/z2 all use the same board.

Z2 if I recall doesn't have RF in the hopper and the V1/2 did. Make sure you have RF in both the gun and hopper.

No it doesn't. If you own a Z2 you need two of those boards - 1 for the hopper (and you also need the Z2 wiring harness), 1 for the marker. But you said you have a V2, which does have RF built in.

What's sad IMO the Z2 isn't as good as a V2 in certain important things.

1. weight -- example my dura-coated V2 with 280 rnd nose with 9v Hi-tech batteries only weights in at 536 grams and a Z2 with a small 200rnd nose is like 530 grams. Subtract the paint and my older unit is lighter and holds more paint.

2. Loss of magnetic ball assist - the V2 has the ability to push the ball stack without the help of the motor thus speeding up snap shooting the first 4 balls very quickly while the motor is activating to start feeding balls.

3. Loss of the built in RF chip - this is great for quiet markers like a LUXE or my Vcom due to the looow kick and quiet nature of those markers. The RF also gives instant feedback to the hopper to load balls.

4. Custom ball tension -- the drive cone with adjustable magnets helped to fine tune the ball stack tension depending on paint and play style.

I personally run a RF, 280rnd , digi painted V2 shells and internals with Z2 backbones for the added benefit of a solid feed neck with Hi-tech lithium-ion rechargeable 9v batteries. Works Great.

I would love for the next loader they come out with to incorporate a lighter smaller version of the V2 magnetic ball delivery system and include RF.

I find it interesting so much importance was put into the Z2 for fixing jams when in nearly 5 years of using my V2s, I have only had two jams due to debris getting into the hopper from the speed feed opening.

Rf interface is awesome especially if you're making a boxmag.
The original Draxxus Pulse came with them,Virtue also made Halo board you can use RF with.TM7 Ripclips had the option also.I have heard Rotors have the option also but haven't verified this.Virtue board upgrades for the Vlocity had a RF option also
It can be a PITA to install the gunside chip on some guns, soldering leads between the board and noid is required. The Pulse chips came with a nice pigtails and Virtue Ion boards had a compatible output port on them

I don't understand why Virtue didn't build RF into the Spire. They have all the technology. Anyone know if they are going to eventually offer it?

Are you currently having issues with feeding that you think would be solved if your hopper and marker could "talk" to each other?

Just curious.
