regulator input pressure question

Let me first put the disclaimer that I cannot leave well enough alone. If there is any room for tweaking and tuning I like to know I've made the greatest attempt possible to maximize performance.

I've had my axe for a little over a year and have the gun itself well tuned and broke in. Currently I am running at 140psi and getting 290fps +-5. I recently purchase one of the new ninja SL77/4500 tanks with a pro v2 regulator. After reading through the manual I noticed that the tank reg contains shims that can be removed or added to change the tank output pressure. My question is if there is any performance or wear and tear benefits of having a lower pressure coming from the tank into the gun?

I started out thinking I should post this in the tank forum but would rather get the input from the contributing members of this forum.

Use the LP output on the ninja. You won't notice a tremendous difference, but sometimes you can shoot a hair deeper in the tank.
