Oh, I'm nowhere near rotary wing levels at this time. Fixed wing will do just fine for me for now.

I think it'd be cool as hell to eventually get into the really big-scale warbirds, but that's way down the road, too.

From my perspective helis are easier to start with rather than fixed wing. Remember, you're not gonna have first person view on where you're flying, so you're bound to make less errors with helis that can maneuver on every plane versus fixed wings.

If you've never flown, I suggest starting with the GWS Slowstick. It's a three channel bird that practically keeps itself airborne. Make the investment in a quality radio and receiver though,as those will move with you to other birds. Once you've mastered it, move on to a four channel Cub model of some type.
Keep in mind, high wing birds are easier to fly than the low wing ones. A simulator also helps keep the skills sharpened when weather doesn't cooperate.

I think I have the older version Mini. I was looking at a sticky on here and if I have an asa that the bottom doesn't have the 4 little holes, is mine an old one? It has something like you can stick a flathead screwdriver in. The little silver bolt.

Not sure how to explain it.

Simon,
Do the letters have anything to do with the serial? I bought mine used and really don't know if its old or new either.

Wish I could post but I'm at work. Here's the thread that the ASA comparison is in:
http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=2962718

Mine is the one to the left. It doesn't have the 4 holes in the bottom. But my guage is a 300psi one.

I must have an old version then.. Is there anyway to get all the newer parts from Kee? Especially the trigger/poppet setup?

The earlier cap for the blow off is actually easier for the end user to take on and off, why would you want to change it? It was changed to the 4 holes as that is cheaper to make, not for any performance reason.

You can buy all the spares if you really want them, but there is no performance increase from the trigger magnet, and the new poppet only helps if you have issues with needing to reset the current one.

None of those changes are critical.

The only really important updates is the ball detents. The deeper ones function far better and having the early ones stick can cause you to break paint.

Well I heard the newer poppet with the spring is more efficient. Is that right? And I also heard the magnet on the older trigger magnet screw moves around.

And that explains why I chopped 3 paintballs over the weekend.. I'll order one of those accent kits that has the good detents in already.

Nope. It just helps bias the poppet to make it more reliable.

They are attached to the screw and as long as they ares till attached you are good. If it's loose or comes off then it's an issue.

Accent kits should all be the modern detents.

Thanks for the clarifying Simon! If I ever have to replace the poppet or magnet screw, I'll get the newer ones. But I'll keep it stock now.

And I wish I could get a red kit but silver is only 21 shipped on ebay with detents so that's a pretty good deal.

That is a good deal.

Yeah many of the changes made to the Mini and Axe were really for reliability so if the original parts work still there is no need to change them just for the sake of it. It's a good idea to have the new parts available as back up in case, but swapping in them in would just make the new parts wear sooner.

My original mini did hundreds of thousands of shots of reballs and paintballs with no issues with the first stock parts. That was the mini without a serial number that was stolen at World Cup when we released the Mini and that I eventually got back.
