Arrow Spyder Fenix Chopping

Ok, so I got a 2012 model spyder fenix. I run a halo too hopper and a dye throttle 70/4500psi tank. HAD a dye/ proto barrel on it. I'm using it as a backup. But the problem is, it chops balls like crazy. I took the dye barrel off and went to stock and it got better but still chopped. No paint on the eyes though. Is my tank too high pressure? Or would swapping for an upgraded bolt or different inline reg work? I am going to by a freak back for it (I already have a kit for my other gun). Thanks for any help!

What kind of paint were you using? If it was cheap paint, that may be the problem.

FIRST! ...put a brand new battery in your fenix. Ur hopper too while ur at it. If it still chops..

Then seeif the paint rolls through ur barrel easy or snug. Or TIGHT.. If you can not blow it through with ur own breath, that may be the barrel. If not... Then buy better paint

The batteries were brand new, and the barrel was a LITTLE loose. But I'm gonna have a freak kit on it. I was using empire advanced paint so not cheap paint. Oh nd was shooting at only 260+/- fps so it wasn't too high.

I meant was the barrel smaller then the paint.

Under boring paint won't cause chops. Have you checked to make sure the eyes are actually working? Have you checked your detents?

nah, the barrel was too big. And the eyes are clean. I've got my freak back ordered so maybe using a matching bore size will fix the problem. Also getting a regulator adapter with a gauge so I can make sure it's at the right pressures

I say its the paint you're using. Brittle paint doesn't work too well with Spyder Markers.

Could be detents. Try taking out one detent and see if that helps. Make sure paintball aren't exposed to too much heat or moister. They swell .keep then in cool dry atmosphere around 50 to 75 degrees.

Try replacing your bolt orings first. often they let air push balls up in the feedneck and they get pinched when your bolt pushed forward.

What kind type of Empire paint were you using? All Empire paint says "Advances Formula".

A few things you should try after replacing your 9.6 volt battery with a new one.

- Remove barrel and rapid fire. This will tell you where the balls are breaking.

- Try a cheaper paint. I recommend Empire Formula 13 for a good recreational paintball.

- Use a JT Revolution loader. Sometimes forcefeed loaders like the Halo Too can put too much tension on the stack of paintballs in the feedneck.

- Check your ball detents and feel around the breech for any sharp edges.

Hope this helps. Post up what you find out.

Thanks,

Scott
