Rec ball modes?

Just got my first electronic marker and I was wondering what people used during normal rec ball.

Good discussion on this here.

My two cents: keep it on semi.

uncapped semi, use only one finger on the trigger instead of two.

When I used electric markers I was always too lazy to change modes. I'd keep all my markers on uncapped semi. In tournaments and practices I'd walk the trigger fast, in rec I'd use only one finger and just shoot slower, that was my way of switching modes.

semi capped at 12.5 or 8.5 bps depending on the amount of experienced players out there

Pump.

I shoot semi when I run my other markers, though.

A lot of my "firepower response" depends on the player group. I take no less than three guns to the field when I play - pump, mech semi, and electro. If the group out there is all renters, I'll play pump. Mixed groups, I'll play mechanical. Regulars, electro.

My personal guideline is to pretty much always play with a gun that is a step lower than the typical gun other people are using. For example: If they're all using Tippmann 98s/A5s/Spyders, I'll use a pump. If they're using electros (semi), I'll use my mechanical Autococker. If they're ramping or using full-auto, I might use my electro on semi only. I don't ever ramp or use full-auto, no matter what everyone else is doing.

The reason for this stance is that by doing so, I feel like I am justified in playing to my full-ability. (I'm really, really bad at toning down the aggression). I figure if I'm not outshooting them, I can still feel free to outplay them.

I want to know at the end of each game that equipment had NOTHING to do with my success.

Semi is always a good start. Especially if you want to conserve some paint and just have some fun. If the field layout is woods and quite large this helps. If you have some small speedball fields experiment a bit.

i'm surprised to hear that any fields allow ramping modes. unless I am totally oblivious to what ramping is. because although I havent had a chance to shoot my new gun yet, the ramping modes on mine seem to shoot multiples with one trigger pull

This is about where I'm at as well ... although I really bad with a pump; still working on it ... so when I get frustrated I'll switch to the mech autococker. My electros are all set to semi-auto capped at 10.5.

honestly for rec ball you shouldn't go past semi, you could always ask the refs at the field what's allowed but it's just kinder to play semi, especially since (when i play at least) most rec ballers have mech markers

Does your paintball marker have the capped semi mode? set it to a low number and rock it.

Play with whatever mode you want or that is allowed. Just don't shoot anyone more than 1-2 times (preferably once). Keep it fun, friendly and sporting. And I greatly appreciate an apology when I'm overshot... Totally understand that sometimes people get excited.
I play pump 95% of the time and I've never even tried ramping on my electro.. Lol

My field has a strict semi only policy for rec ball. I play by the rules because it's the only way to play.

Semi, one finger. Two if I need to walk it real quick. If my paint or aim is crap and can't hit my target in the first 3 pulls, I will walk a short burst to tag them, apologize after if I over shoot. I also try to use more brittle paint, so if I over shoot, it doesn't hurt as bad. Sometimes there are kids ramping on your noob teammates, and then they get all upset when you "bonus ball" them playing in semi. Then get off ramp for rec, please.
