As an experienced player, what do you say/do to convince someone to try paintball for the first time? Especially if they are on the fence or nervous/scared to try.

Its a great team building experience. Be honest with them, yeah it expensive but you cant put a price on countless hours of fun and entertainment.

i use the thought of where else can you hunt people and not go to jail. also a super good stress relief.
always be honest with them like stated before. when they ask about the pain i tell them to take a rubber band and put it on their wrist and snap themselves that is about it

"I will pay for your paint."

Though even that rarely works.

It's fun and the paintballs don't hurt that bad.

Doesn't even last that long.

To the OP, show them fun looking pictures/videos of games being played. People tend to try things far more when they see it over being told about it.

A+ good Sir.
When we get people that are uneasy about trying paintball, we get them some passes to the local fields to go and try it. We also try to educate people on just what paintball is.

I know my biggest drawback and still is would be walking on by myself and feeling out of place and awkward all day after paying around $100 to play. I'm not exactly a social butterfly.

Vids from this site, vids of me wrecking people that we know, letting them have a few rips from my Geo 2, offering to pay for their first time out, lending my extra gear to them, giving them paint. The beer and pizza after a whole days worth of games.

I show them a YouTube video of any pro game. That seems to get them pretty pumped.

Maybe let them come watch you play and get a sense of what it is like. Might convince them after they see how fun it is.

Alright it was close to my birthday, so I tried to get my bros to go out paintballing with me. It provided some closure, but not in the way you'd expect. As much as I tried to convince them, that I would pay for them to go to a certified field and rent, they decided it was better to buy the lowest grade pump marker they could find at Dick's Sporting goods as I protested throughout the entire transaction. They did not want to listen to me. They spent more money on these stupid overpriced markers and masks, that were a higher price and lower grade than the rentals that I was going to pay them for. Then they wanted to go to the certified field for the free coupon with those pump markers. Why did they want to set themselves up for failure? I had no idea. I convinced them to go to the outlaw field next to this certified field instead.

This was the worst paintball day I've ever had in a long time. I didn't buy paint for the outlaw field, so I was forced to use the old crap paint from the certified field. This paint leaked and spun out all over the place. This messed up the eyes and it started chopping balls like a blender. On top of this, for some reason the seals that I bought from an online store were not complete for the ram, so this caused it to blow forward at a higher pressure than backward. So it jammed all the time and broke paint like a blender only on this day. My bros make fun of the autococker that has been so reliable, not that I care. It's just it became a let's make fun of me day. So when the game was over, they would continue to shoot me, expecting some kind of reaction out of me. Laughing and guffawing, it just felt like a paintball day for idiots. They certainly had a fun time I guess. But it was a lot like trading white water rafting for a day on a placid lake. It was mickey mouse paintball and kind of depressing to me. I still managed to push a paintball through the blender feeding one paintball at a time into the barrel and won a few games.

I had this idea in the back of my head, that we would become close brothers again as we versed another team outnumbered, but my bros just wanted to be stupid that day. They then said that paintball was just for little kids and downplayed and made fun of me the entire time. Well. Looks like I am not playing another paintball game with them anymore. They tried as hard as they could the entire day to make me look stupid. As I was walking down the steps of the treehouse, I was shot in the upper back thigh, "Haha, shot you in the taint!" one of my bros said. Which, yeah it was kind of funny; but seriously, I had more respect from the douchebags and bonusballers on the certified fields they were making fun of.

Well, I don't care too much, it really doesn't matter whether anyone plays paintball with me or not anymore. I had this idea, and it wasn't real. It is more fun to paintball alone and be some mysterious legend than be around a bunch of people that know you too well. I suppose the sibling rivalry was still there, it's just my bros knew that they couldn't beat me physically, so they attacked me mentally. I wasn't even trying to be a rival, I wanted a brotherhood. I don't think this exists anymore in life. Bros were the ones who taught me how to be aggressive, but their personalities changed as they got older to a more sedated lifestyle, fully domesticated by their wives.

I'm done trying to convince people, I am just going to go out and have fun.

Seriously dude, do you get off on wandering into threads and vomiting out a barely relevant effortpost? You've been doing the same thing for years, despite nobody caring about your fairy tales.

I have done this on multiple occasions. While no one denys me, neither do they come back and want to try it again without me asking them.
