Best pants?

Hey guys I just got my new paintball marker (etek 4) and now I'm looking to invest in a nice pair of paintball pants. I've done a lot of research but I'm wondering what you all have to say. I'm wondering why do so many people hate empire pants and valken pants like the Valken crusader pants. Also would it be best to just get normal BDU pants since I'm really only playin woodsball.

Thanks

There is no "best".

Get a pair that is comfortable for you and that you can afford.

Can't really comment on others, but I've got a pair of Dye C4's I've been rocking for several years and they've held up fantastically. Once they do eventually wear out I plan to replace them with some Exalt Thrashers as I've read great things about them and they're very reasonably priced.

Whichever way you go you should invest in some nice paintball knee pads too! Even if you're just playing woodsball it's nice to be able to drop to a knee behind cover whenever and not have to worry about planting on a root or a rock sticking up out of the ground.

The Exalt V3 Thrashers are the best pants I've ever owned in 10+ years of playing paintball. Breath, super durable, great knees, awesome price.

One thing I will give Dye is there clothing line although expensive is in a league of their own. But both the NXE Elevation pants and the BT THT pro pants blew me away with how comfortable and durable they are. My suggestion would be to go to a local pro shop and try on every pair of pants they have and move in them, squat, and stretch until you find a pair you like. If there is one thing I have learned over the years is that you play better when your comfortable so spend the money on a good mask, pack, pads, and pants and you will be one happy man.

Since you are playing woodsball I would NOT get BDU's. If you ever decide to slide (of just trip and fall) there are a ton of hazards that can injure you. I have a 8" long scar on my shin from sliding into a hidden root.

Look for pants with built in knee and shin pads that go almost or all of the way to your ankles. Personally the PE Distortions are my favorite.

But don't get confused when people say "padding". In most pants now, paintball manufacturers put light padding in the knee and shin area (some brands more than others), but actual stand alone knee pads have MUCH more padding than pants alone. I would suggest getting pants with padding, but getting thick knee pads (the PE ones are awesome) is more important than bounce padding.

I have the most current Dye Tactical pant and I love the way it fits. Also has built in rubber knee pads that are a lot more durable than just padded pants. Since you're playing woodsball you can get these pants in DyeCam if you want that Camo look but want something that is more paintball specific. While still not exactly cheap at $130, they last a lot better than my old BDUs did! I'd say in the time I've had them they have lasted longer than two pairs of BDU pants which normally run about $40-$50 out here new.

there are many things to take into account finding the "perfect" pants.
first of all, there's no such thing lol. you might be able to find the set
of pants that is the best suited for you and your purposes.

I love all the PE gear including their pants. Most models are sturdy and
will last you for seasons. During summer months, the HDE pants in my
opinion are great, very little padding, extremely light and excellent at
keeping the heat out. But I use PE knee pads, so the lack of padding is
a non-issue for me. The Dye C13 UL are even lighter and "cooler".

Like I said, it really depends on what use you will give them pants.
If trying them out is not an option, online research, reading reviews
might be your best bet.

Agreed, I have a pair as well I like them a lot. They breath very well and keep me very comfortable in 80+ degree weather (haven't been out in 90 yet). I have been playing woods ball in them and they are taking some serious abuse, they are holding up extremely well.

I say disruptive gen 2 pants. A perfect balance of breathability and lightness, as well as durability. Havent gone down on me for 3 years and I play in the driest dirt and rock you could possibly play in. And some of the hottest temperatures, I live in Arizona. No grass or turf here, almost exclusively hard dry dirt.

Got up to 105 2 weekends ago - can't say i was entirely comfortable in the heat but the pants didn't slow me down

The Exalt Thrasher V3s are the best pants I've ever owned. Very comfortable, breathe well, and so far seem to be durable.

you might also want to pay attention to length/waist ratio. A couple companies seem to be designing their paints for short fat kids. Virtually no one designs for tall/skinny guys
