What you did was perfect, dont worry about this whole roll back nonsense. Moving the bolt forward in any way to compensate for roll back is a stupid idea anyway. All you are doing is making the paint harder to feed.

A flat face tip like the one I posted above is the best solution....along with your no flow insert solution.

I assume your bolt at rest sits in the same place as if using a flow insert?

Yes the position is the same as original. I have tried the insert o-ring mods but it only creates feeding issues as you say. I have also tried a litle od thing to make sure the ball positions in the bolt face and not a bit away from it.
