G3 pressure issues

I'm trying to fix my friend's g3. All the out of the box mods have been done, all lubed with monkey poo. My issue is coming down to regulator adjustment. I tried to follow the guide (full closed, pull trigger until puff then shots), but am having issues. Discovered airing the marker up when full closed results in blowing the asa oring, so ive lost 3 of those. However, it seems the sweet spot for getting the gun to work is ultra small, like 1/16th of a turn. Is that right or is the regulator malfunctioning? It would seem to me there should be a larger window of movement to get the correct pressure for the gun to operate.

Summary: trying to tune pressure, keep blowing asa o rings full closed, and have gotten the marker to work, but the operating window seems ultra small re:reg adjustment, does that sound right?

So there's really only like a 1/4 turn to get the gun functioning at the proper pressure and adjust velocity?

I found the absolute point where the noid would stop functioning (overpressure) and turned down a hair under that, but the gun still doesn't function properly, it shoots down and acts like the pressure is still too low.

whats the color of the piston on your reg? seat may be bad or the noid may need oring replacements.

its a silver piston. where can i source a reg seat from? just the manufacturer?

bit about the gun, my friend bought it and used it once, probably a bag of paint, then it sat for several years. the trigger was already polished when i took it out and there were screwdriver marks on the noid, so someone tried to fix the common problems. did dp start doing that from the factory or did the store he bought it from do it? he claimed it worked fine for him years ago the one time he used it.

The top of the reg seat may be damaged. It was common with the silver ones. There's a little black piece on top of the seat. It is what is usually damaged. DP sells a red one that fixes that. Or someone may have one to sell or give you but it will be on them to PM you. No BST in here
