keeping lye out of internsls while stripping anno

Im going to polish my axe but from what I hear I dont want to strip the anodizing from the inside of the body. How can I keep the lye from getting into the body?

You can get some densely packed paper crammed into the holes to backup silicone, or you can get silicone plugs, or there is a product for anodizing called Mask-it that you paint/pour on that will keep the fluid away from the surface you do not want to strip. Any surface that has a moving part contacting it should not be bare aluminum. The friction is higher and wear will be more rapid without the anodizing so you are wise to find ways to preserve it.
