I would love to see the format change to this:
Halves (with a 10 point varient: if any team gets up by 10 points the match is over)
No Coaching!!
Semi-Uncapped (No Ramp)
Every player has to chrono as the enter and exit the field.

I agree.
No coaching at all, any division.
Semi-uncapped, no ramping.
10 man tourneys come back
PSP becomes 50/50 woodsball-speedball for tournaments
Refs wear black white stripes like EVERY other sport and no more illegal colors.
All major tournaments be televised on espn. Millenium, CPL, west coast and east coast series, College...
Drop the price of paintball at FPO fields. Maybe mandate BYOP only for all fields?

I do think that paintball costs can be brought down a lot but everything else is relative. For example, me and a lot of my friends used to play the highest level hockey there was. Registration was 8000$ a year plus 2000$ for tournaments and about 3000$ in gear and transportation. The prices are ridiculously high to play AAA hockey and it's really expensive for a lot of sports... The only reason people find it expensive is because people don't make their stuff last a lot of times.... If you shoot the same gun for 1-2 years and then sell it again it will be a lot cheaper the being a gun whore and shooting a new marker every 3 weeks. If you are out and about buying everything that catches your eye then it will get expensive... And honestly I don't even think any rec baller should have high end markers. I still shoot an etha in D 2 because I am waiting as long as I can for my team to get a sponsor for markers so I can save a bit of cash and be able to officially represent a company and not be at the field saying ohh yeah the luxe 2.0 is the best gun I have ever used while I have a ego and a geo in my bag.... I believe in complete loyalty and if I am given anything I will use it no matter what. I also believe that paintball money should be spent on paint and now getting new stuff every week and now being able to use the stuff

This. I can play on Sundays, but I honestly think Saturdays should be the ideal day, just for the travel involved. Our team has to drive upwards of 5 1/2-6 hours to play in tournaments. By the time the tournament wraps up we get back around 11-Midnigjt, then wake up for work the next morning. It's frustrating.

I may be the only one because I'm a Joy Fan and would like to use my Joy equipment but change the paint color to something odd so it doesn't take a main color away from the spectrum. Like Bright Neon Purple or Neon Brown or Neon Gray so you can use shades of a color but not Neon shades......but I mostly want to use the Leopard lol. And once again just paint prices need to come down maybe $10 that would help a lot.

I think the biggest aspect inhibiting paintball is the initial investment. Especially for people like me, a college student.

I like to bring people outside of paintball to come play for a day and most of them really enjoy it. One guy in particular was very interested in playing and asked how much it would be to join in on the fun (speedball). I ran down the list of things he would need to buy in order to be competitive and he has never come out again. If you think about it here it is:

$300-250 - Entry marker, maybe an axe or a drone.
$100-90 -Rotor
$80-100 - Tank
$40 - Pod pack
$50 - Pants
$80 - Pads

What kind of college student has $570 to spend?? These are very generous prices as well. Then there's the cost of paint and entry. I get cheap *** spectrum for $30 a case, but I'm still paying $55 every weekend.. It gets tiring.

Your list is flawed

GoG enmey - $150
Proto Primo - $15
Carbon tank - $130 or rent a tank $5 per day
BT Bandolier 4+1 THT - $30 with pods
Empire 09 Grind Pro Knee Pads - $15
Empire 2011 Contact ZE Paintball Pants - $50

$390 with carbon tank or $260 without also, pants and pads are if he is diving into snakes and he can work up to that

I said we are playing speed ball man. That could work for rec though.

Even then, finding a college student to blow that amount of money is still rare.

Side line coaching for sure, and more creative fields.

This video shows a sweet looking field with a sweet layout, awesome buildings and such, it makes me wish more fields put this kind of effort forth to create a really awesome field or two aside from recycled spools, chipwood/pallets, and other assorted re-purposed trash.

The video I mention http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1ZfT...1BJCub8B-7cDKg

The sideline coaching thing because it strictly takes away from the game on the field by feeding information to teams that they may or may not otherwise have acquired on their own. Point being, it's not impressive when you pull something off just cuz you heard someone in the crowed telling you what to do.

Stop releasing layouts before events, if you want to focus on the skill of players let them make their adjustments on the fly.

This thread wins. Ramping takes no skill.

^but that is probably my favorite. If you release the field layout, people have their plays laid out weeks before, and teams that have their own personal fields can lay it out exactly like the next tourney and practice on it way before the tournament. Let them do it on the fly, hell, even change the layout day-to-day.

So that's the revision I would like to see, don't give out the field layouts and have a different layout Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (3 different layouts).

Running doesn't take skill? So people don't exercise or condition to get faster or stay in shape? Man, better tell athletes they're doing it wrong. SARCASM

Just a thought, but maintaining a solid stream of paint via ramping means you need to be more aware of your hopper fill level and available pods to fill with, and can also make you manage air differently. Yes, ramping throws paint and can seem odd but it does offer some otherwise not noticeable challenges.

And running is easy to do but to do well does take work. Side stepping, footwork and the overall conditioning are no cake walk, but I see the point. Let's just all be friends!

If maintaining a solid stream of paint when ramping is a skill, why is the PSP slowly ratcheting back their Rof? And knowing how much paint you've got in your hopper and on your back, is something you get from practicing with your gun for any length of time, it's not really a skill. Although I have seen people lose half a pod or more trying to fill their hopper, so I guess that might be a skill.
