I appreciate everyone's input on this issue.
When Sean called me and asked me about the possibility of no coaching, it was a group decision that we should let the players decide on this one. I have no problem with it either way, I would be willing to enforce the rule either way. There are very few times that I will enact a rule specific to the league with the input of player.

Thank you all again for your input on this and I look forward to the upcoming season.

None of us are pro ballers at CPL...I vote coach it up until PSP changes their rules for divisional play.

We will be following the PSP rules concerning coaching for divisional play.

I know the decision has already been made and coaching will be allowed. I also agree with this decision because CPL being an affiliate league should follow the same guidelines.

However... the PSP are the ones that need to change their rules for divisional play. Coaching is becoming a crutch for players to fall on while playing PSP tournaments which is seriously undermining the core values and practices of good team communication and it is not a variable that can be regulated fairly and properly by the PSP reffing staff. I've been to several PSP Chicago events and there are so many people on the sideling theres no way refs can properly regulate any coaching or counter coaching. I don't think this is a huge problem for the Pro division (because pros have perfected their communication skills for the most part) or the CPL and other affiliate leagues because the crowds are smaller and its much easier to pick out a specific coach or random ruffian screaming nonsense from the crowd.

Also not something most people think about, not every team can get a coach. Some teams come great distances and can barley afford to bring enough players to the event let alone an extra person just to stand on the sidelines. So I think its an optional advantage that's unfair to some teams and creates even greater depravation between team skill level than there already is, that is not necessary.

Again I know the decision has already been made for the 2014 season but this should definitely continue to be an ongoing debate because although it may help players on the field I think sideline coaching hurts the sport overall.

I do not disagree with you, which is why I asked the players. We will see how to new rules work for the Pro Division and see how it plays out for 2015.
