For those of you just finding out, the paintball world has lost one of the greatest people ever to exist in the sport. Matt Dawson was what every paintball photographer aspired to be. Every event he shot, wether it was the magazines who hired him or he was there working for the players, he made sure to take the photos he wanted, and to tell a story with those he published. When PGi gave up, Matt became independent and started his own free online magazine. He showed us the true blood, sweat and tears that went into training to be the best. Wether you were playing D3 or Professional, Matt had a story to tell about you and your team. He was there for the players.
Personally, I've been out of the sport for a long time. Matt inspired me to want to become a photographer. Wanting to be able to do what he has done for the sport of paintball has pushed me to become a professional photographer. I'm living what I've wanted to do ever since I became best friends with Matt. Every day moving forward will be in memory of a great friend we've all lost far too early.
So sad. He was the gold standard all the other paintball photographers were trying to meet- everyone remembers the day they were lucky enough to get photographed by him. And to top it off he was one of the nicest most sincere guys ever. RIP.
What a terrible Tragedy. I was fortunate enough to meet Matt on multiple occasions. Always a smile on his face. My condolences to his family and friends. Kyle and Saucey I know you are setting up a memorial please send me information so I may donate.
