Sl8r board. What are my options?

So recently i purchased a new to me sl8r with all the goodies. however two vertical lines of the screen are shot and it makes it hard to change modes and settings. I bought the guns with the hopes of sanding down all the nicks and scratches then re-annoing the marker. So naturally as I'm looking to kind of restore this marker I want a new board, but what are my options. I hesitant to replace with a oem board because I could just run into this issue again. Tadao no longer get screens for their boards and will not warranty them. Virtue has terrible micro switch placement were only the optical trip hits the switch limiting trigger adjustment. They also have no optical sensor. So this leaves me at a conundrum. What are my options for a new board? I would like to still have a screen. I'm tempted to just get a tadao LED board until I find a better solution. I gotta say kinda unimpressed with the lack of support from such a large marker company and people wonder why paintball guns loose value so quickly.

The SL8R is almost 6 years old to expect direct support for a marker that the line has changed nearly yearly after this amount of time is a little asinine, look at warranty and product support in other industries. This has very little to do with the decline of prices and resale value (that's more impacted by the flood of guns that hit the market because of how fickle most paintball players are, having to have something new every two weeks).

You run the risk of a board's screen dying off weather its OLED or LCD, it happens, its electronics.

IF you are looking to restore it, go with the stock board. I still have my SL8R and older guns from Eclipse with LCD screens and of every gun I've owned (currently 14), only 1 of them has had an LCD die. That to me says something about the quality of the product, especially with the use I put my gear through (I also take excellent care of all of my stuff).

The best bet IMO is to get yourself a replacement stock board. Try contacting Planet directly or your local service center (I believe they are still listed in one of the stickied threads in this sub-forum).

Thank you for your advice yes currently the stop board seems to be the best option both cost a restoration wise. However The marker being 100% original isn't my largest concern seeing as I would like to anodize it grey and lime green like the standard ego colour scheme.

I have the same issue with my sl8r, it was due to the noid spitting oil on the LCD thus killing pixels. I know they used to fix this issue not sure if they still will. Put their customer service to the test and call them. It is a common problem with this marker.

Options: 1. Find old Ego 07/SL74/Ego 08/SL8R board

2. Buy an aftermarket board

The aftermarket boards aren't bad. You don't need both trigger options. The microswitches are nice enough.

Its just the lack of adjustment that kills it for me.

Do you switch between the two a lot? or prefer one over the other? I find I set a trigger, and never touch it again once I've set it to what I like

Really depends like i set up my trigger differently for the winter because i don't use gloves and it gets cold. However the way the trigger contacts the micro makes me think i might never be able to get it just so.
