I'm a tightwad... I got my Contour Roam for $100... It films in 720HD with 170 degree wide angle, which is what I wanted for my helmet cam, plus it has a much lower profile and doesn't stick up any higher on my mask... As people DO shoot at it.
The audio is better, you don't need the plastic case to protect it, and it has a slide switch instead of a button to turn it on... I often forget if I turned on my camera or not, and with the Contour, you can reach up there, and feel the position of the slide switch and know if it is recording or not...
With a button, you have to hit it and listen for the "beep" to know if it is on or not, and when you are sneaking around in the woods, a "beep" will often give away your position. I have the beep turned off on my Contour as I don't need it with the slide switch.
Contour got purchased, so they should be back soon, and the ability to mount it on its side and turn the lens is really helpful when trying to eliminate any extra "targets" on your person when filming. Go pros just stick up too high when mounted on the center of the mask, unless you build a mount that covers your vision...
I have lots of friends with Go pro's but I prefer the Contour Roam.
