Question!

Hey I was thinking about becoming a ref at my local field and have two questions.

Do I have to become certified, if so how do I do so?
Are there certain things I have to know?

Thanks for the help!

You need people skills and a perfect understanding of safety (goggles/barrel socks). Some people play all the time, but others that have never played will be looking to you for guidance.

bottom line - you're protecting peoples eyeballs, make sure they leave with as many as they showed up with.

To be a referee for a local recreational field, you MUST love the game. No ifs, ands, or buts. You are an ambassador of the sport in the most intimate way possible. Known your **** if they ask you something about the game, equipment, history, etc. Be on top of safety. Play well enough to give new players tips if they seem to be struggling. Above all, be friendly and memorable.
