MRX Kingman Spyder vs Tiberius Arms T9.1 Ranger FS

I need to know the pros and cons about both markers. Anything you have to say is helpful. Price and looks do not matter to me.

I personally do not have any experience with the Tiberius at all, but did just pick up an MRX Elite from my local shop for $199 used less than 5 games. I have yet to take it out to a field but I like the way it feels with a remote. I found that they sell a Bolt and barrel upgrade to be able to use the First strike paintballs now, will be getting that soon. The way it changes from loader to magfed is extremely simple is just a twist of the barrel. It is very simple to clean and break down.

I've never tested the Tiberius but out of personal preference I'd recommend the spyder. Not just because I'm a spyder forum or anything but because of easier to use and easier to fix. Its hella cheaper too

I'd go with the new mr5 over the mrx, mr5 is first strike compatible while mrx is not. I'd go with the mr5 over the tiberius because of price and I don't like how fat the grips on the t8 and t9's are. Also the spyders have higher magazine capacity with stock mags. You can get the extensions for the tiberius mags but they are wicked expensive. I can't speak for tiberius' efficiencies but I used my emr5 yesterday, went through 12 mags and barely touched my 68/3000 bottle

Cant speak for the spyder but can speak for the tiberius. Its very accurate and very solid and it really rocks! yes tit has only 8 rounds but changing mags is fast and easy, grip is fat yes so if you have small hands then its not for you, the front shround i personally hate because its plastic... i hate plastic >< its expensive yes but i think that in the long run it will survive longer then a spyder

I love my T9.1, it shoots nicely, never breaks paint, is easy to maintain if you know what you are doing and switches between FS and .68 easy.

I second the MR5 over the MRX since you can use First Strike rounds.

Of the two, the MR5 can change between mag fed and hopper fed with the twist of the barrel. I didn't like the system as much as the one on my DAM (flick of a switch) but so far the DAM and the MR5 are the only two markers that can do it and there is a $1,000 difference between the two so for the money the MR5's ability to do that is pretty valuable.

I believe the MR5 mags hold 9 or 10 rounds...so a bit more capacity than the Tiberius. Spyder parts are found just about anywhere and they are a simple system so almost anyone knows how to work on them. I have a Spyder clone that is going on 9 years with very little maintenance so they are strong, reliable markers especially the MR series. They are built to be sturdy markers.

Don't know much more about the Tiberius otherwise I'd give insight into that too. You're not mentioning if this is going to be a mag fed only marker or if you will use it for regular paintball. That information might help as having the rotating barrel of the Spyder isn't so big a selling point if it will never see a hopper.

TIBERIUS. Its a regulated blow forward vs an unregulated blow back. Its going to be much more consistent and accurate than the spyder can ever be. I own a 9.1 and have 4.1 coming.

I didn't know that. Where did you read that or do you have the T4 because I can't find anything to confirm that.

Not totaly true. You can add a regulator to the Spyder as well though it won't be pretty. It's easier if you run remote to add another regulator in place of the ASA. You do that and both markers should be fairly consistant. As others have shown, there is no difference in accuracy based purely on blow forward/blow back or open bolt/closed bolt alone. Now I can believe the Tiberius is more accurate because their blow forward system has been designed to be very smooth and consistant because of materials/design/build quality but not just because it's a blow forward.

You might be surprised at how consistant and accurate a stacked-tube blow back design can be.

I'll agree with Robotech on stacked tube's being able to be consistent, a lot of them are not out of the box but the can be made to be pretty easy.

That aside I have no experience with the MR5, it does look nice though, I run a T9.1 and wish I could hold an extra round or two. I'll also second the fact that Tiberius have HUGE grips, they are massive. Not so bad if you get a mag release for the other side of the gun though, I swapped to a index finger release and that makes it much more livable.

Still looking to hear more feedback on the new MR5 might have one in the near future.

i have a FS upgraded T8.0 and am considering the mr5 for use as a FS shooting rifle.

I LOVE my t8.0 dont mind the fat grips cause i have big hands.
Never breaks First strikes, very easy to break down and clean.
Available Used on ebay and B/s/t forums so you can find a used 8.1 for $200 and under if you look deep enough depending on the seller/package.
I also like the fact that you can find used mags on almost Every B/s/t group out there.

I was told the spyder was a "toy, and only good as a 1st marker" for other mag fed players. Im hoping my local store gets one in so i can see how it feels in my hands. I own a TM15 (BT) but want something mag fed to save $$$ at big games, plus i really enjoy the realistic feel of changing mags.

So im debating on the MR or holding off till the new T15 comes out..

SERIOUSLY, my T8 was the most accurate paintball gun I shot, and it was a pistol. I own the MRX, very inaccurate marker, better left for CQB. Hell, I wouldnt even get it for magfed, 10 shots is laughable. The tiberius is worth the money, very accurate, very easy to use and durable

Sean, I've never asked but I've always assumed the MRX and MR5 barrels are proprietary or can you change them out? Also, what setup do you have on your Spyder? You run HPA on both it and the Tiberious or CO2?
