Maintaining an Ego LV1

I have a few questions, starting out I kind of fit the "noob" and "rich kid" stereotypes. But I am a little different, I just got back from a deployment a few months ago and I was looking for a hobby. So I decided I would get back into paintball, I played for fun while I was in high school for a little bit. I didn't get any higher than an Ion and an Epiphany. Anyways, I was looking around for a new gun and gear, and since I have enough money saved up I was looking at getting a LV1. I don't think I know enough right now to properly maintain and service such a high end gun. I was wondering what are some of the things I should know how to do before I get the gun, i.e. when and how to lubricate the gun, how to properly clean it, basic functions of the gun, etc. Thanks for the help.

The high-end guns are no harder to maintain than the low-end stuff...in many cases they are easier. All your questions are answered in the manual...just download it off planet eclipse's website. They are written well with full color pictures. Also read the stickies in this forum.

If you can change a lightbulb then you can keep your Ego serviced. They are really easy guns to take care of. Like stated above read the book and even better I think watch videos on YouTube. I am always amazed at the amount of videos on how to do something you can find on there, just remember to watch trustworthy ones. PE has their own channel and Hustle Paintball always has great advice as well. You will love the marker and welcome to the PE Family!

Look in the manual.

For good measure I'd say oil the rammer every 5 cases and clean the eyes/detents, as well as washing the barrel with hot water, swabbing the breach, cleaning bolt, etc. Do the HPR and LPR every 10-15 cases, and a full servicing, including the valve, every 30 cases, or a bit more.

Some people will say oil the rammer every day of play and all that ****, but it's not necessary. Ego's are work horses!

You could probably play the whole season without messing with anything to be honest. I wouldn't advise it but, it's possible and has been done before.

LV1's are really easy to maintain/clean.

There is a cool little 5case shot counter (bar drops to zero after 10K shots) and thats when I gauge for a total clean. Other than that the manual is your friend and you should follow it. I to a basic clean after ever game (bolt, grips, reg grips) but at 10 or 20K shots is when I will fully disassemble and clean the entire thing.

I have a LV1 and its shot amazing for me so far! Im not sure if yall are suggesting not cleaning it because of past egos or because of experience with the LV1s but Im not sure if the LV1 will need more maintenance with the new internals, but ive put about 6000 through mine and i pulled the rammer out and cleaned it and lubed it and it wasn't really that dirty. So just buy the gun and shoot it! Promise you wont ever put it down!

I call it preventative maintenance. Im my occupation it helps out a lot. I take the same mentality to the field and my markers.

Yes most will say that's too much maintenance, but I may half the time not do anything. Just inspect, examine and put back together.
