General tips

I just played paintball the past weekend and i received many bruises but i had a lot of fun. I was wondering if there are any tips that could help me prepare for my next experience as well as tips on beginner gear

Before anything else is said. What do you like to play? Woodsball, recball, speedball, or a combination of those? And what's your price range for gear?

Currently i enjoy playing speedball and recball. I am fairly cheap, but i know i do want to play with an electronic marker and not a mechanical one.

Ion, etha, ego, etek, axe, mini, etc. It all depends on how much you want to spend. But first I would invest in a good mask. It's the most important part of your gear.

Are there certain type of clothings that would reduce the amount of bruising i would take? When i went i wore a hockey pants, long sleeve shirt, and an baggy longsleeve shirt on the outside. The hockey pants worked out pretty well, but my upper body took a beating

As far as tips on playing, I don't mean to sound like I'm brushing you off, but there's a ton of posts dealing with just that. Even how to play front and back. Just take some time and wander around. I've been playing for a few years and I'm still learning new tricks.

Honestly you just have to roll with it.whats happens is you buy padded shirts and protectors ,then you realize that it's useless..and you back to a short sleeve.what I do suggest is forearm pads and knee pads

Yeah, they make thick padded jerseys and pants. But, since I live in MS where it can be hot and humid, I mostly just wear a wife beater under a t-shirt and either blue jeans or bdu pants. But, the bruises are just apart of the game really. Sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't.

^truth.

Evil had all the answers on starter guns. There's cheaper options out they're just not up too par.

Get mask firsts. It's better to play with a good mask and a rented maker then a good marker and a rented mask. Drop at least $40 or more.

Troll ansgear.com and just look at the gear. There's usually a few good deals here in the bst thread and ebay.

Bruises are just part of the sport. This ain't monopoly. But if your serious about a little weekend speedball look at arm pads and sliding shorts/knee pads. That would help with the bruises but more importantly you can hit the ground harder on your slides and not walk away bloody.

There is padded jerseys and pants. You can pick them up used but new ones are gonna cost ya.
There's too much to cover on playing. Are you a front, mid or back guy? Snake or Doritos? Check around on here there's a thread for everything.

If you really want some sound advice then reserve a few hours of your day and go to paintball****** on YouTube. Mike is a freaking guru. He has hours of advice videos for new players. Listen to the guy.

Generally you will get shot less as you get better field awareness and more experience. You get used to the pain/bruises somewhat also. Doesn't seem to hurt as much as when I first started playing. Wear baggy clothes, get armpads and kneepads to protect your joints if you dive/crawl or fall.

I like to play speedball and and woods ball. My price range is pretty decent. I have a mini and an AIM Eagle autococker pump gun.

Once you start getting into speedball you will learn how to play aggressive and you will learn new tips and tricks along the way. The key to a good speedball player is speed and accuracy. Also you need to be sneaky, but that will come.

Well, I've found the best method is to avoid the paintballs. You should give that a try.

First I would work on communication. When you communicate your team will respect you and help you out more. Next try and play aggressively because the when playing aggressively you can see other more experienced players tendencies and form. I can tell you that if you just keep at it you will get better and better. As for an electronic gun I would go with a GoG Extcy or Proto Rail. Also consider an Azodin Blitz/Zenith (even as bad an experience i had with my blitz but thats a story for another time) Hope I was a help!
