Barrels?

What is the best after market barrel to purchase for my axe? Will all the freak kits work? Also what bore should I be looking for?

Thanks

.679, .682, .684, .687, .689, .691, .693, ..695 is the full kit and you can buy additional inserts. The techt kit is a 6 pc or a 9 pc. I personally run both together.

That's usually the better deal just shop around on the forum or check on sites usually you can get a full kit for 130-150.

Check ansgear.com the cheaper kits only come with a few inserts the full kit comes with the other inserts so you have more to match the bore.

Well i see you want to get the best barrel you can get without having to worry about cost but if you don't have alot the best barrel you can get for cheap is the cp one piece and if you live somewhere humid like me you definetly have to go .689 bore if not bigger.

I just got my Axe this week with a Freak Kit (insert only $75) and Deadlywinds Carbon Fiber barrel ($90). The Deadlywinds accepts the freak inserts and shoots great. You could also save a little money and go with the Full Freak Kit ($150) that comes with the barrel. Just make sure you get one that is Auto Cocker (AC) threaded.

deadly wind/ freak and inserts

Deadly wind with freak inserts is awesome.

Also, you may look into buying the freak jr. or deadly winds with just a few inserts. I've had the the full freak set with 8 inserts for a year now and have only ever used 3 of the 8 inserts. I live in Dallas tx where it gets humid so I expected to see some use out of the larger bores, although the inserts I run most frequently are (depending on the paint) .682 for a slight under bore, .684 is what I run the most. on rare occasion I need the .687.
In hindsight I woulda just bought a deadly winds and those 3 inserts.
Hope this helps

The bore size/freak insert you use depends on the paint you are using and the local climate. You want to bore/paint match, or even under bore for the Axe. I live in Southern California so the weather here is pretty consistent, but the field I play at uses small bore .679 paint. So far the .679 insert is working well but I may have to pick up the .677 insert that DOES NOT come with the set.
