cleaning the uncleanable

so i have a thermal lense on my mask and i have heard cleaning the inside will ruin it. so how do i get the mess of the inside of the lense without having to buy a new lense when the coating i guess wipes off. Assuming that the only reason a thermal lense is so great is this coating why are the lenses so expensive

Thermal lenses I believe are 2-panned and that's like a built in antifog...just be sure not to soak it in water cause it could leak between the two panes, ruining the lens.just clean the back as you do the front.

if you want, it should be safe to use an antifog cleaner, just spray a light mist and wife it down gently. No need to douse it completely.

Anything can be cleaned. Don't believe the falsehoods telling you otherwise. You can take the lenses out, run them under some cool water (not a heavy flow) and let them air dry. If there is paint that you can't get it all off like that then a toothbrush will help. No soap needed. Just brush the areas needed softly to loosen the debris and then rinse again.
Ive been doing this for years with no problem on my i4s, Grill lenses, Profiler lenses and every other mask I've had before.

It's not the fact that you can't clean it. The problem is that usually the inner lens is softer, since it doesn't come in contact with anything. That means if you use paper towels or anything abrasive to clean it, you'll scratch it. Get a spray bottle of water, put a drop of dish soap in it. Then use a micro fiber cloth to clean your inner lens. Paper towels, paper napkins, dirty rags are a no no.

This. And never submerge a thermal lens, that's when you run into issues with the seal between the panes getting muffed up.

Do not spray any cleaners on it. mild dish soap is all and warm water and get a microfiber towel to wipe them off.

If you spray something on it it will eat the coating and ruin the lens.

you heard wrong, just clean them off with some warm water and mild hand soap. avoid other cleaners as some have chemicals that are bad for plastics. (like ammonia). just gently wash it off and wipe it down with a soft cloth so you dont get water spots, and let it air dry.
