...there's a rumor that Arsenal is going to be a no-show at HB. Let me repeat that: It's only a rumor at this time. If true however it would explain why the NPPL posted then pulled their event schedule earlier today. Not only would an Arsenal no-show ruin the schedule it would necessitate reconstructing the whole pro schedule because there would no longer be enough teams to create 5-team groups.
Thoughts?

They don't have a set sponsor for the season. More than a rumor.

That makes sense, from a team name perspective. From every other angle it strikes me as a poor decision to allow sister teams in the same division. I'm not in any position to predict the future, but that just opens the door for game fixing.

Social mentioned they were pulling out to play PSP, which is more expensive than NPPL. I don't know him, but what little I've heard would suggest T4 is capable of fitting the bill, which makes me wonder how much sponsorship really played a roll. Then again, maybe they landed a deal with Empire which would cause them to fall in line with XSV, Infamous, etc...

It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds.

What's a "sister team"? Two teams that put the same alphanumeric characters in their team name? Two teams who practice together? Two teams with the same entity paying the entry fees? Two teams with the same sponsor?

Unless you're objecting to use of the same letters in the team name, there already are and historically have been plenty of "sister teams" in lots of divisions including Pro. And if you're objecting to use of the same letters, that seems like a fairly arbitrary distinction (and one trivially fixed).

Paintball is an incestuous beast. People know each other. Just the way it is.

To answer the question you posed, by "sister" teams I meant two teams that are part of the same organization, under the same ownership.

This is from the NPPL rulebook concerning sister teams, so they got it covered.

26.07 Sister Teams. In the Pro division, if two sister teams are scheduled to play each
other in the preliminary or quarter final rounds then these games will be moved to the beginning
of the schedule for that round.
