Under all circumstances wear a mask when shooting paintball guns. You don't want to see what a paintball will do to an eyeball. Is the convenience of not wearing a mask worth going blind in one eye?

seek out and play against people & teams better than you.

ask those same teams for pointers or to critique your game

practice walking your trigger with both hands while sitting at home

get some masking tape & put tape in the shape of a bunker edge on the
biggest mirror in your house & practice playing that bunker (this helps you see what you expose to the other team while playing)

change the shape of your home bunker & start over

play different kinds of paintball (tournament, rec, pump)

pass on the information that you collect to players newer than you (sometimes you can learn more while teaching than while studying)

If you want to get better at paintball then watch the youtube channel how to play paintball. He has great tips and shows some low paint drills you can do with or without your team. I really recommend his channel!!!!

I disagree. You don't get better by watching videos. You have to put a lot of hours in the field to get better. Play with better players

I strongly disagree with this comment. Watch pro paintball instructional, practice, and tournament videos. The instructional videos let inexperienced players see and hear, in a slowed down, pausible and repeatable environment, how stances, movement, drills, and terminology work - from some of the best players in the world. Practice videos and tournament videos allow an inexperienced player to see what it is SUPPOSED to look like when all of the fundamentals and advanced techniques and communication come together.

This, of course, is no substitution for drilling and practicing as much as possible (be it by yourself, with less experienced, AND/OR with much better players); however, for many with aspirations, time and money are limiting factors. To tell inexperienced players that there is nothing to gain from watching paintball is an injustice. It is like telling someone that you can't learn from reading - or that school is worthless because it is not hands-on real-world experience.

It is basic human learning progression. We watch and listen, then we imitate, then we practice - then we do almost instinctively (I.E. muscle memory). There is not one person in the entire world that would be hindered by rinsing and repeating these steps every once in awhile...

By that reasoning I should be able to play pro football since I watch football and play fantasy leauge.

You learn fundamentals and advance techniques by playing not watching videos. Communication between teammates, each team has different call signs and name for different stuff.

Play hopper ball or pump if you are low on money. Makes you work on your fundamentals and techniques instead of throwing 4-5 pods into a bunker.

Have you ever read the directions in a recipe? By your grossly exaggerated logic - you can't make Mac-N-Cheese unless you and a group of other people each open up a box, dump the contents into a bowl and stare at it expecting something to happen.

If it was completely worthless, why do you think the pros would take the time to make videos? Why does education even exist?

Why do they put on camps then? Yes - so people can watch and then learn by doing --- but not everyone can afford going to a camp --- so the next best thing for many is to sit on the internet and obsesses over the tiniest details in a training video --- and then go outside and practice what they have now seen/been 'taught'.

It is hard to strive to play like a pro when you have no idea what a pro looks like while playing. This may come as a shock to you, but not every field in the world has someone who is worth watching playing at it...

I am not saying you learn more from watching videos vs. playing - and I am not at all saying that by watching videos you will be a pro. I am saying, --- you know what - just go re-read my post a few times and if you really think you have a point, then just sit back, relax, and see how others weigh in on our differing opinions.

It is sound advice - and it is also exactly what I will be doing.
