Window milling for pre dm12?

The newer style matrixes, dm12, dm13. Have those beautiful windows milled into them. I have no actually held one or looked at the bolt in person but ive seen plenty of pictures of them. I dont see why you cant mill windows into older model matrixes and just add a sleeve similar to the newer style matrixes. Any gurus on matrixes have any input?

Thanks
JC

I actually dislike my windowed DM12, as when I get a gun body hit the paint gets on the bolt can, making a mess when you remove your bolt.

I don't play much anymore :-/ . This is just another project for me. I'm thinking a ripper style milling sort of like a ripper Vic. And it will have the clear window

Part of the problem of doing that on any Dm after the 8, is Dye went with the irregular shaped dump chamber. So if you sleeve the bolt you are destroying your dump chamber volume. That is why (much to the displeasure of almost everyone) the Dm12's and 13's are so tall...

When I make the sleeve I think I'm going to undercut it on the inside so it leaves as much volume as possible

They need to go back to a PM8 style LPR placement and integrate the HPR into the back of the bolt like a DAM. Also for god's sake refine the bolt design some. I mean Hell Bob Longs designs like the VCOM are Matrix based and they aren't even balanced spools...

Honestly I think they should do away with the LPR completely.. Honestly if they reduce the size of the bolt sail the air consumption should be relatively the same

Also with a dwell of 18, I'm almost sure that you could reduce the flow from the solenoid within the can with no ill effects.
