GC and AC/20 cat now look different with the visual upgrades. Now you can tell just by looking at them what loadouts the k2's are running. Pretty nice, and hopefully that will make the side torso easier to hit.

How are you guys liking the patch? I still won't be able to play until Sunday. I see that you can put AC/20's in each of the Jagermech's arms but doing so would leave you hardly any tonnage for anything else.

Jagermechs EVERYWHERE. lol but they are pretty squishy. 1-2 srm bursts from our stalker builds usually puts them down. A lot of people are complaining the head hitbox is too big. Aside from that the patch didn't really change too much, the new map is nice.

Edit: Looks like they broke lrms. Grab your lrm boat and get gunning, they now hit heads harder and now that they damage legs properly it's like a damage boost.

Sounds like they didn't mess anything up which is good. But yeah, I've been messing around in the mechlab and can't really come up with a Jagermech build I like. I think I'll steer clear of them for now.

The most popular builds have been dual ac/20's and quad ac/5's or ac/2's. Pretty much a bad phract.

I don't really see the Jagermech being useful for anything other than sniping.

It is an anti-air mech, it was never made for mech on mech combat. The one with missile launchers could be a decent support mech. Indirect missiles when there is no sight line, then pop in with ac's when you can see people.

Edit: This is what I'm talking about. Basically harass and run while relying on friendlies to maintain locks for your lrms, and when you have your own sight line just dakka them til they are annoyed enough to look your way and shoot you in the face.

If they ever fix the head hitbox this might be a decent quick strike splat build.

I finally got a chance to play this. I'm getting my *** handed to me since I'm using the test mech's right now, and just banking cash for my first purchased model... but it's quite fun. I'm a fan so far.

out of the trial mechs i would only use the trebuchet and stalker

jagermechs look cool but perform meh. the higher, narrow arms are preferable to the wider, lower arms of the phract 4x but a lot of people use them poorly. brawling with ac2s is fail

Yep, the JM was always intended as a 100% support machine. Once the fight moved close to them, the standard tactic was to retreat.

digitard, I'm pretty sure getting your *** kicked in this is SOP. I like to think I'm pretty good with first person shooter games, and have played BattleTech since the stone ages, but there's a huge learning curve for this.

Agreed. It took me more than a dozen games before I even got my first kill. I think the hardest part for me was learning to control my mech's movement. Setting a constant speed was weird for me and the fact that the mechs torso and legs move independently of each other was even more weird. Now it's all second nature though.

its really all about managing the heat and trying to spread incoming damage around as much as possible so you dont lose parts.
