I would actually say Paintball is stronger than ever in Utah. It's no California by any means. But I wouldn't gauge the success of paintball by the number of on-line forums. What was already said is true; here and Facebook have been enough to keep everyone in the loop about what's going on. No sense in thinning the community even further by adding more forums. They have been attempted and failed.
As far as the fields; Addicts and UXP are excellent fields who both support the community and host their own tournaments. There is also the local 7-man events by Pure Paintball and the Saints events. All of those are speedball events. So if you ask me, the majority of what is going on in the area is speedball.
However, with the turn in the economy several years back, our area has really blended the "genres" of the sport together, and avoided the separation of woods and other types of paintball, and looked at it more as a venue, than a genre. We all love paintball. In Utah, I would say we are seeing more and more scenario guys dabbling in speedball and more speedball players hitting up the local scenarios. So to say we "suck for paintball" sounds like a step backwards in what we all feel as a community we have achieved.
Supporting paintball as a whole is what you will notice in Utah, no matter WHERE it is played.
