GI 2 star barrel breaks?

Playing yesterday, I found that I was breaking paint through my .688 barrel.
2 star is .68. It was also about 40-50 degrees, but I know I wasn't chopping, because I am using the Lurker bolt on my axe. Is it the weather? or am I just straight getting barrel breaks?

That is strange since GI 2 star is re-melted paint gelatin that was rejected from the first run so the shell is normally thicker and not as brittle as higher grade paint. It also may lead to some misshaped paintballs and may be the explanation for your barrel breaks, soft spots, dimples, etc in the paint may be the cause also. Weather can also be a plausible explanation especially if the paint was exposed to the cold for an extended period of time as opposed to being in a car or building or something like that.
Don't know if any of that was helpful or not - just throwing some ideas out there

1 star is the re-melted gelatin, 2 star is just a thicker shell.
