i did not grease the bumper just the bolt and the bolt guide stem. I thought the "micro honing" was supposed to fix this kind of stuff..also these shavings caused my etha not to fire when pulling the trigger very slowly about once every ten times. all i would here is a slight poof and no shot.

That last pic looks like you have a different bumper than I do. Mine simply looks like 2 black donut rings without all those little bumps. When did you buy your Etha?

So I talked to Tim at TechT, he has never seen this happen before. He sent me out a new bolt that has been "extra buffed" to ensure the anodizing sticks properly. I will run that one when I get it and see how it holds up. I am sending him my lemon bolt to inspect it to determine the fault. Going back to the stock bolt makes me realize how I NEVER want to shoot an etha without an mrt bolt ever again. I hope they can get this sorted out!

the gun doesn't ping.... it's the vibration people are talking about- etha has never had kick

the ping sound is from the spring in the poppit, hence the springless poppit. If you like the way your etha shoots then no need for the mrt bolt, but there is a difference. With the mrt bolt you can barely feel the gun move when you shoot it if at all. Night and day difference for me.

i would defintiely buy an MRT bolt to see how it runs and from what i have heard but i will not go near one until techt can confirm that it will not harm the bolt guide and rip bumpers off like so many people have had happen. i've had bad experiences with techt bolts in the past...

The honing process has fixed the "wear" issues. As for the bumper... I have seen that on both ours and stock bolts. That seems to occur if the inside leading edges of the spring (ours or stock) has a little bit of a burr. It can be remedied vary easy if that is the case.

what about the issue of the soft tips not fitting on the front of the bolt right or having the spring yank them off?

Like I said it's not a bolt as much as it is a spring issue. If the spring has any type of slight burr on the end it can snag the tip and yank it off.
As of right now the bolt seems to have all the bugs worked out.

Are they? That's the only thing holding me back from purchasing one. There's not a single bit of wear on the bolt guide or breach from the stock bolt on my Etha.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the newest runs of etha bolts are finished with a natural anodizing- should be much more gentle on the bolt stem.

Hope this puts the warm fuzzies out there.

Thanks guys.

What's the difference in the natural anodizing and the anodizing on the first Etha MRT bolt?

First off I picked up an Etha and an Etek 4AM to back up my Darted Ego 11. I used the Etha last weekend completely stock and was not pleased with the way it shot (mostly kick). I put it up and used another gun. I had planned on just selling the Etha but have always wanted to try the MRT bolt so I picked one up this week since they changed the anodizing to reduce bolt guide wear. I used it this weekend in a tournament and shot about 1 case of Evil through it. I was able to reduce the dwell to 10 and had to turn down the velocity about a half a turn due to the increase from the bolt. The shot with the MRT bolt is like night and day compared to stock. It was a better improvement performance wise than the Dart kit was to my Ego 11. It made it much smoother and maybe a little quieter, but not sure on that. I only busted one ball all day and didn't notice it until the game was over so i think it was a barrel break. I did use a small amount of Planet Eclipse grease on the tip of the bolt guide. I then slowly put the bolt on the bolt guide twisting along the way smearing it on the bolt guide. The amount of grease I used was small enough where you couldn't tell there was any grease near the base of the bolt guide near the bumper. Just enough to reduce friction since it is metal on metal. (I know PE recommends you don't use lubricant) I have absolutely no signs of wear on my bolt guide. I did notice some wear on the outside of the bolt from the spring though. Nothing major and I think most guns that have this style of return spring has outer bolt wear. This is a must have for Etha owners. I planed on using it one game this weekend since it was a tournament and I have an Ego 11 in the bag, but ended up using it half the time. The Etha is a pleasure to shoot with the MRT bolt.

Does anyone else have any experience with the new "natural anodizing" bolts? I am hesitant about purchasing this bolt due to the many people who have had issues...

Sorry for the late post, but.... I've been super busy tearing up the fields with my brand spanking new midnight EGO LV1 , by the way, they are sooooooo SICK!!! Now back to the subject, the Etha Tech T MRT bolt I received from my local store was a first gen run, and yes I had issues the same issues as you have all read in the many posts (bolt guide wear, bolt spring wear ect...). However, after identifying the problems (after about 1.5 case) I contacted Tech T immediately. They are AWESOME, long story short, Tim at Tech T sorted me out ASAP, bolt and bolt guide re-honed free of charge and sent back to me in about a week. The bolt in post-warranty state is awesome (although the cosmetics side of things were much less than stellar). Smoother shot, better efficiency, and slightly quieter. You do however have to (ever so slightly) lube your bolt and bolt guide, I would recommend the Tech T gun drops as it doesn't cause bolt stick. I know PE recommends no lube, but with the faster and lighter cycling rate I think its necessary. So there you have it, is the bolt without bugs, no. Will Tech T sort you out if there are any issues, absolutely. Is the bolt a worthwhile upgrade, In my humble opinion yes (however I think ensuring you get a newer run bolt with the new honing process is the better option). I hope this helps all you Etha owners out there on the fence about purchasing the Tech T bolt.
