Does anyone know the differences between the CP V2 and gen 3 regs?

The V2 were three sections and the new V3 is only two sections with different milling.
The V2 regs were notorious for having the middle section stick to either the top or bottom section if left together for too long. Solid regs but when you have to get a vice, strap wrench, or just some pliers to get the sections apart it got pretty annoying.

Should I spend the extra $12 for the gen 3?

I would personally, just for the sack of being able to service it with more ease. I've chewed up more then a few V2 CP regs myself with pliers trying to get them apart.

I would second that. I've never been able to get a Gen 2 CP apart either even with a bench vice. Go with the V3 or another reg (I'm a big fan of the Bob Long 360 regs because those come apart fairly easily).

Heh, if I had a bench vice things would have been different I think. Now I have a bunch of CP regs that look like a tiger chewed on them. I reached a point of not caring what I cosmetically did to the regs when it came to servicing them.
