Payday is coming up, what baitcaster do any of you use/ have your eyes on ? I'm thinking about trying a shimano reel and maybe using a vendetta pole to replace my current shimano pole/ really ****ty caster setup

the best reel 225 or under is a abu garcia revo of some sort or a quantum smoke. the shimano and diawa casting stuff sucks *** until you get to the higher end curado and chronarch and in diawas case i do not like any of there stuff until you get to like 300 bucks then it is really nice. if you have the money to shell out for a steez get it (only 600 bucks!). diawa just has so much gimicky bull**** on their lower end stuff.

oh and lews. the lews reels are really nice.

for the price of the vendetta pole there are better options. you can get an all star rod or mojo bass for that price (i think its around 100 bucks?)

Edit: Oh I should probably ask how much you want to spend.

I just got an Okuma Citrix for cheap and it is really nice and I've heard their other reels are nice as well, plus they have great customer service. I also have a Revo and it's extremely nice as well.

Yea I hear the new okumas rule. The only one I have tried is the helios but that is 200 plus. It was impressive although I still would probably take a smoke or chronarch at that price

I think the Citrix is priced at around $120 or so and I bought it for $30.

Sorry man I guess I missed your post or I would have replied the first time! My girlfriend just turned 21 but we have both been too busy to carve out any time to go around her birthday so this is kind of a belated birthday trip for her. Just plan on doing a little sight seeing and I'm sure copious amount of drinking.

Once you get over the smell of puke and piss, Bourbon Street is pretty cool if you have never been. We love going to New Orleans. There is a lot of cool things to do down there. You guys will enjoy it.

And I totally forgot about taking a picture of my cable. I'll try and remember tonight.

a few years ago my buddy dropped a hot dog on the ground of bourbon street, picked it up and ate it. one of the grossest things i have ever seen.

NO is absolutely disgusting but it is a lot of fun. IMO its the dumpiest city i have ever been to in the states. lots of cool cultural stuff, good food and the people are cool but its pretty nasty.

i would have liked to have seen it before katrina hit. first time i was down in the area was for post-katrina service

edit: im going to be going down to thibodeaux/houma later this year to visit some friends. should be some fun redfish action

It hasn't changed, it was the same before Katrina. Bourbon does stink though. Make sure you get some crawfish down here, not in the quarter though, they're way too expensive. I've seen signs in the quarter they wanted 10-11$ a pound for crawfish, outside of the quarter it's 2.85-3$ a pound.

Well, we made it here and come to find out my girlfriend left her suitcase with the majority of her clothes in her car at my house. So, we will be going to do a little shopping here in a little while but we went to grab a bite and a beer first. Things can only get better from here on out right?

She really doesn't enjoy shopping very much at all so it actually really bummed her out but it's all good. I pretty much just go with the flow so it's no big deal to me.

so i stopped at the Toledo Bass Pro on the way home from Michigan yesterday...

dear lord

that place is amazing.

i just stopped in to renew my licence and look around real fast and i ended up spending 2 hours in the place. spent like 30 minutes watching a hot girl feed blue gill to the bass and strippers (by far the biggest bass ive ever seen) alone. i ended up buying a stradic FJ reel for my dad... so much for trying to save my money. i am going to use the **** out of it so me buying it for him looks good but realistically i bought it for myself.

yea same here. it is in the 60's now and i was hoping to do some pre-spawn bassing in the farm pond by my house after work. sadly it has been raining all day...go figure.

this saturday is going to be a steelhead fest. should be perfect weather, the water should be at a good flow and i will actually be able to get minnows out of my yard since the ice is all gone and i can throw nets.

Went out last night and it sucked. Caught about 20 fish, but it was all grunts and small snappers. Actually got a nice sized grouper, but they are out of season so, back in the water he went. Donated my whole catch to the boat and went home happy that I at least got out on the ocean.

ugg i hate you...

so if i am throwing an alabama rig is it really that much more advantageous to have a super high capacity reel? i want to get a low gear ratio reel and i am keeping bama rigs and maybe longlining (obviously would need for that)
