so i'm one of those that have the new mrt bolt and running into an issue with lowering the dwell below 8. Anyone else tried this yet?

Yup... Even though the manual says 1.0-15.0 the board only allows for a setting no lower than 8.0. I have contacted Eclipse who has confirmed this.

I was also adjusting dwell with the MRT bolt and testing on my chrono and found not much difference in average fps from 8-12ms... this promted me to want to try something lower to see the results. With the etha, our dwell adjustment only regulates our poppet valve speed per-say, and has nothing to do with the firing chamber pressure (which is solely regulated by the hpr) like other guns.

Call me crazy... it may not make any sense, nor may it even work any more consistently but I was wondering how slowing down the poppet w low dwells would effect sound signature and consistancy w the MRT bolt. Guess we'll need an aftermarket board with lower dwell settings to find out.

And FYI, my dwell is set at 8ms w the MRT bolt and I'm running on average +\- 4fps w stock barrel

If you're consistent with the lowest dwell possible that's excellent. Lower dwell, in theory, should yield greater efficiency (maybe a pod max), and somewhat softer shot I'd suppose. There's not much you can really tune on an Etha anyways.

well I found a downside to my lower dwells this morning...

about 50degrees, MRT bolt, springless poppet, 8ms dwell

first trigger pull and gun wouldn't fire... Pull it a couple times and it would start shooting. Stop shooting for a few seconds, try shooting and again, first shot wouldn't go. When the gun was firing after a few pulls on the chrono is was consistant...

ended up increasing dwell from 8 - 10ms and problem went away

I heard the MRT bolt has a tendency to have problems with cooler weather.
