For that much cash all you can get is a cocker pump.

Not true. ^
The Spyder Hammer 7 is about 130 new and I've seen nothing but praise for it. I picked one up myself as a beginner pump, going to try it out this weekend.

I never thought i'd see "Spyder" and "nothing but praise" in the same sentence. Good for them for making a well received product.

I thought the same thing. I only picked one up initially because I wanted a cheap beginner pump. Features seemed pretty nifty and the shop owner said it was decent at least. When I got home I looked around on here for posts about it, saw these topics.

Needless to say, I'm pretty excited to try it out now.

I bought my Phantom Pump used for about $210. You could probably do some looking around for a used Phantom.

I would suggest the Trracer over the Hammer, although they're very similar. I like the Trracer a tad bit better because of the feel (very much personal opinion), autococker threaded barrel, and rails on the pump arm (so you can hitman mod it really easy, again a personal opinion). It's also about $60 if you buy it used, so you can use the money you saved to buy a nice tank and a barrel kit.

azodin also makes a pump in that price range.
if you look around you can get a pump cocker for less than $150 easily.

From my experience. I've always used cocker pumps. i just picked up a 99 cocker pump and it shoots straight and hasn't given me any kind of trouble yet. They are always pretty damn dependable. \

Ouch! He could do a lot worse!
Also, that 2004 from PBgateway looks perfect. I'd rock that.

I would recommend a cocker pump. They are completely upgradable to the point where they will rival a ccm pump if you want to do them out fully. Affordable ones can be found in the $150 price range with ease.

I play a lot of pump and have owned several in your range. Cocker pumps are great and hold their resale pretty well. Azodin are also really nice for the money, they can be found for right around $100 and can be sold for right around that. I absolutely love my Phantom, I will never sell it. That being said, stock class is hard to get into. Start with something open class and gradually work your way into stock class. People say playing pump is like playing a game in hard, playing stock class is like playing expert. Just some tips on guns and things to keep in mind.

Azodin Pump, Phantom, Cocker, Spyder pump. All these can be found easily within your price range. Personally I would go with a Cocker.
