D3 and up also have the option of playing the race-to format, it wasn't just the pros.

Shmurgen bro you haven't been around 20 years if you are saying back then no teams weren't qualified. I could merk you out for days on teams that should have not been in the pro division for the last 20 years. Let me know if you want me to start naming teams off.???

Oh I'm sure over the years there have been plenty of teams that never should have played in pro. LTZ was never good enough. Ultimate was mentioned. Even teams with legit players like detroit thunder never got it together. Did destiny ever get that pro tag ... I am cloudy on them.
But that was then, this is now, after taking leaps and bounds towards trying to be considered a legitimate sport.
Honestly we can debate this all day but the truth is that nothing any one says is going to change my mind that you shouldnt be able to just throw a team into pro.

If a team just moved up from D1 and is strong and surprises us then that says something about the other teams... NPPL is becoming a joke and handing out pro spots to any team willing to pay the entry.

810 is playing d1 psp, not a single player is appa ranked better then d3 (current appa), do you feel they are wrong for signing up in that division? same concept (i dont know if you play for them still)

I will tell you the same thing that I told them. They are not ready to play D1. And I think it will be some time before they are. But they want to see what they are capable of doing so we will find out. But to be honest, I have always believed that you should start in D3 ( well D4 now ) and work your way up.
But D1 is not Pro. Pro is the pinnacle of a sport that I have grown up loving. And the top level should not be something that you can walk into.

If anything it has regressed to back in the day when any team that wanted to play pro and could pay the entry were permitted the opportunity... but most were smart enough to know they'd get their ***** handed to them.
Do you not remember 03/04 NPPL when the divisional teams played the pro teams?
I remember being a divisional player and playing teams like Aftershock, London Nexus, Dynasty, Bob's Ironmen, Nexus, Tontons, etc. Sometimes your draw was terrifying, other times you drew a PRO team that couldn't beat some of the top divisional teams. There were upsets all the time.
It's clear what league will have the more competitive pro division and is the more desirable product according to the player base/teams, but your argument regarding the hierarchy of your esteemed "sport" is just plain inaccurate. Most players have regarded PSP as the premiere league in respect to competition since the split of the leagues.
