Player Briefing

Every year people show up thinking that they're
going to find things pretty much as they do back
home. Nothing could be further from the truth,
so to insure you have the maximum amount of
fun we've put together this video. I know, Cmd
Sgt. Major and the intro both state that this is
for 2012, but other than for that the information
is all still the same.

Any questions? Either drop me a note, or give my
office a call.

Thanks again,

A tee shirt and shorts you say. Well that's may
be fine for some but over in the CEF they've got
a group of guys who play in kilts and you know
what they say about them don't you?

5th Rangers

Here's a bit of history to go along with this
cute photo of a young girl talking to three
U.S. Army Rangers.

""See boys during the landing on Omaha
Beach when Maj. Max Schneider, CO of the
5th Ranger Battalion asked “What outfit
is this?”, someone yelled "5th Rangers!".
To this, he replied “Well, Goddamn it then,
Rangers, lead the way!” From this, the
Ranger motto "Rangers lead the way!"
was born. "

Come to D-Day and be a member of the 5th
Rangers and help take Omaha Beach. It's
a challenge you'll never forget.

Ticks?

If the CEF wants to roll out the welcome mat for insects to chomp on their softer bits, then more power to them.

Cef Recruiting

The Commonwealth Expeditionary Force invites YOU to
join them at OK D-Day 2013, June 10 through 16!!!

“The service to one’s country is something that is profoundly
important and the oath of allegiance is not taken lightly. We,
as a nation, are strong because we are free and this freedom
serves as a powerful example to people all over the world.
During these troubled times, we are constantly reminded of
something that every generation knows; the hard truth that
there is evil in the world. That sometimes there is a clear
difference between right and wrong. The military is central
to the continuation of that freedom and provides a means
of force to ensure that freedom for the common wealth of
its people. With that in mind, I have ordered the commissioning
of an Expeditionary Force to assist our allies in ridding the
world of this evil. May your hardships be few and your
victories be swift.”

Edward VI, King of England

Would you like to be part of the largest paintball scenario
team in the world and have the time of your life? Would you
like to live in an international camp and play alongside some
of the best scenario players from the USA, Canada, England,
Scotland, Wales, Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, New
Zealand and France? Then come join the CEF!

We can help you make it happen! We have ways of reducing
the cost to the average player and making this “trip of a lifetime,”
a reality. We offer trip/convoy planning with our DOT coordinator,
group meals in our Dining Facility (DFAC), shelter in our air
conditioned shipping containers (Includes lights, electricity, AC
and a bunk) and super cheap equipment rental, if you don’t
have any or don’t want to bring your own. We have our own
parking lot and camp security and the bathhouse is just across
the street. We have our own team store on site and if you care
to have a drink at the end of a long hard day, we have our own
pub, called the **** and Beaver.

Our continuing recruiting theme for this year is: “Everybody,
bring a body.” We would ask that everyone concentrate on
recruiting and bringing one new player to the CEF.

The CEF is composed of eight different units with different
player compositions and playing styles. We're sure you would
find a unit to fit your style. From the infantry, to the airborne,
to the armor. We have something for everyone. The one thing
we all have in common is teamwork.

All CEF uniform and clothing items are now taking preorders,
so avoid the rush and get yours in now.
Check us out at www.cefpaintball.com and take a look
in the PX section.

bluesshifty,

Relax and rest assured there's plenty of diversity when it comes
to styles of play you'll find waiting for you at D-Day. There are
units on both sides to suit everyone from near first time players to
die-hard, gung-ho military types. Just go with the flow and play
at your own pace.

Most of the clips and photos you'll see me post here are intended
to help illustrate what they mean when they say D-Day tends to be
a life changing experience. Keep in mind the majority of YouTube
videos posted here aren't produced by the field rather by members
of both sides units. They're just another example of how unique
this event is compared to all others. Here's another example of
what I mean taken from back in 2008. Hope it'll inspire you and
lots of other players to come and join us..

Enjoy,

It's almost time! Gear up with the Germans and you might get a chance to run into a battle with some of the mighty Geisterjagers as we demonstrate to the tacticians in the Allied special forces this years motto, "Everyone has as plan until they get punched in the face."

(GunCam footage from one of the GJ Dirty-Thirty)

Swing on by the recruitment thread here and let the different units vie for your affections!

I have not gotten specifics yet on our guesstimated AOR for this year. Our typical AOR is around the pegasus bridge area, but last year we pushed lines from just north of Sword Beach to The Valley. We spent a good bit of time last year at the Church, Colleville, and Caen.

Some people are pretty intensely serious about the event. Myself and the guys I roll with just want to have a killer fun time, and it is. Are we too damn lazy and just don't care enough for all the formalities of hardcore training? Yea... pretty much. For the few days of vacation time I have to give up to come to this event, I would rather just be laid back.

That's like me... I'm a former NPPL player/ tournament baller and as I've gotten older I just enjoy paintball in all forms more than I used to. I plan on just finding some people that want to have fun wrecking an area and going from there. I haven't played this event it 5 or 6 years but it seems more structured/ war-sim than it even used to be. Hopefully the experience is still fun.

That's something a lot of people have been saying now, but the staff is adding in an additional mission system similar to what you would see in a Viper game. The idea is to break up the format a little so it doesn't get stale from year to year. I hope you really enjoy it if you can make it up there! Please feel free to stop by the GJ camp so we can say hey to ya (or if you think we might be your flavor of play, hit me up before you sign up)!

Blue,

Naw, it's still a vacation. We get all flavors....tourney players, scenario teams, even as you say MILSIM. D-Day is a blend of players/skills/experience/styles like no other. There is something for everyone. Like to mow muppets? There is that too, lol.

D-Day is evolving and the event this year will be different from the past format. Personally I am excited about the new format. I may dress scenario, but I carry a GEO3 and have learned quite a bit from my younger tourney counterparts.

Hope to see you at this year's D-Day.

It really isn't any more mil-sim than what it used to be. I would suggest a German unit for your style of play though. The allied side is full of great players but from my personal experience the German side is laid back completely. The 914th being one of the units that show this the most.

Folger is right, D-Day isn't anything like MIL-SIM. MIL-SIM
paintball is strictly limited paint and now more than ever all
magazine fed. Sure, the allies tend to spend time making
sure you don't trip over the guy in front of you during the
parade, and we also teach you how to read a map so you
don't get lost, but most of the German units do that also.

Not sure how much time some of you NPPL and speedball
game guys may have spent roaming around on the kind of
terrain you're going to find at D-Day, but when you've got
to quickly move 200-300 players across an area where you
find yourself climbing down a steep 100 foot slope, then
immediately have to climb back up the other side, it helps
to have some folks to help you out if need be. Sure, that's
an extreme example of what you might encounter, but
it's what you'll find in some areas out there.

In most paintball sceanrios you're lucky to even know the
first names of the players who make up your squad, let alone
have the time to learn how to work together. That's why I
like to say that D-Day is more than just another game.

Sincerely,

Take it from someone that's been there 5 or 6 years ago, it's not any more milsim then it was before. The numbers are actually smaller then it was back then as well.

Most of the guys in our unit shoot speedball markers, and we could care less about the whole millsim thing. I know, let's play "spot the GJ" in this picture:

Yeah, that's TJ doing the chicken dance out in the open. Some people care a lot about the whole milsim thing... we don't.
