Three way coupler set screws

I got a used cocker. Noticed the set screw towards the front was missing in the coupler. I put a 1/8 one in there. The same size as the other. But with it in there the trigger will not pull back all the way. Does it not need one there.

I just looked at mine and I only have one set screw, but I also might have lost it and not noticed

you only need 1 in the most forward one which threads into the coupler and seats into the indexing dent in the 3 way stem. putting 1 on the opposite would likely make the stem bind up.
