Check the field as you are running in for your dive. You may be able to get a quick glimpse of where the other team is moving. Look out the corner of your vision dont turn your head downfield.
Listen to your back player...If he says bump then bump, if he says get your butt down do it, if he tells you to go to taco bell..head for the border.

one thing ive learned is as your running of break to snake use you peripheral vision to see whats going on down field so you will know if your opposing team went all the way to snake of break. DONT do that stupid hand in front of the face thing if your gunna get hit your gunna get hit.

Avoid Heavily. If it comes down to it, get to the biggest bunker in the snake to hide behind

First and foremost, make sure you walk the field. See what shots the snake has and who has shots on you. Check the angles on the ENTIRE snake, not just the knuckles. Sometimes you can be hugged up against s2 or whatever and can't get a shot. Scoot back a little, that 8 foot beam gives you cover, use it. Chances are likely that you can get an easy kill by backing up a little bit. Nobody will be shooting right over the beam and won't expect you to pop up in the middle of it. You have the advantage and a better angle.
Learn how to pop up and get back down quickly. Walking the field and knowing your angles helps here. Visualize what you will be shooting at, aim before you come up, and pop up over top and shoot a quick stream. You can't always afford the time to post on someone.
Try not to battle down tape, let your corner guy do that. It goes without saying but I can't count how many guys I've seen die in tape battles when all they had to do was stay alive and let the corner do the work.
Move fast and do your best to stay low. Your pack will be the highest thing exposed and easiest to shoot so be aware of that. When making bumps, staying completely hidden isn't always a priority. Make the bump as fast as you can and paddle your way up to the next knuckle. If someone sees you, by the time they react and start shooting, chances are likely you will already be where you want to go.
This should have been put first but I just thought of it...When you first get in, you don't have to come out shooting right away. Keep your head down. Listen to your team, listen to their team, and watch for paint being shot at you. If you are all clear, listen for your team to call out the bodies and take your shots accordingly. The worst thing a snake player can do is take a lot of ground and get blasted in the face because you had no idea what you were shooting at.
There is always more info and you can look up tips and tricks on youtube as well. Talk to more seasoned snake players at your field and watch some pros play snake to get more of an idea of what you should be doing. Practice is a priority so get out there and practice! Have someone film you and critique you so you know what you need to work on. Be aggressive and be patient.
One more thing - the snake is a huge threat on almost every field. If you get there alive and can't do anything, don't worry about it. Be a threat and draw the guns off your team. That will allow them to move up and get the kills while they are all trained on you.

Great advice!
To briefly summarize:
-Be field aware, study the field, know the layout, use this to your advantage as snake players have to rely on there visual memory and react accordingly.
-Don't get caught up in gunfights.
-If they're shooting at you then you're doing your job. (Cause they're not shooting at your teammates)
-Watch pros and more experienced players. (Its helped me)

Learning how to put my weight behind my momentum to run lower, faster. it also helps cause youre already almost set up for a dive.
also
it can never hurt to play it gently. If im not in snake off break im careful to bump only when nobody on the other team is looking and not jostling the bunkers. bumping undetected and taking your time with your first shots can make a huge difference in catching several guys off guard. i try to be that guy that always seems to come out of nowhere

A really good trick I've learned is when your in the snake, if you have a shot on a player crossfield, you can shoot the inside of the snake bunker, and use that as a reference point. When you get set to snap, aim at the paint mark that you made, that way when you snap up, you have your gun already aimed at your target

Most snakes have little cubes or small bunkers close together. Watch your location and don't stay between two. If you watch psp Dallas a lot of players got bounced out from players shooting the bunker behind them.
