IF Question
Those of you who do IF, do you use BCAAs? If so, what is your preference?
I'm thinking about giving it a shot.
Xtend is what I am seeing the most positive reviews of. Any thoughts?

So, that's a yes? haha
Edit: Didn't realize Lurker had a guide that included BCAAs.
So that's a definite plus.
Still questions on which ya'll like? There seem to be a couple good ones, with Xtend placing high on the list (taste wise too). I don't want something that will make me want to throw up after drinking. Lol

Xtend tastes good. I couldn't tell much difference when taking it though.

Buy bulk leucine
Xtend has some ingredients that are extremely unnecessary in regards to IF.
RecoverPro is ideal, 4g Leucine, 1g of Valine/Isoleucine. Not to mention it blows everything else away when it comes to flavor.

I'm not at all sure I agree with buying leucibe only - mtor signal liking isn't the point is it? I feel like you actually get better synthesis rates from a blend

i thought we had come to the conclusion that if you eat enough protein on a daily basis then bcaas really are not necessary

welcome to 2 years ago, apparently.
Something about difference in muscle protein synthesis between real protein and bcaas(especially leucine).
I dunno, I just take 10g of bcaas preworkout and be done with it.

chicken, beef, fish, whey. all the protein you need imho.

Can you have a full "well" balanced diet while cutting?
I'm new to this and trying to read as much as I can. Obviously, even when cutting you want to have a high protein intake, but would it be high enough to negate the benefit of a BCAA?
(If that's a stupid question, I apologize. It seems legit in my mind) lol

When it comes down to a realistic standpoint, you do not need the praised 2:1:1 ratio, or isoleucine/valine. There was something on AM about necessitating gluconeogenic ffAA's during a fast. Both gluconeogenesis and de novo lipogenesis are things you body does to manage your sugar levels. If you don't have enough, your body can make some and if you have too much your body can get rid of it.
All I have are rat/pig studies on leucine supplementation, but one common denominator is that the stimulation of protein synthesis from leucine decreases with age. One can surmise from the combined information in the array of available texts, that protein synthesis induced via leucine ingestion does not differ from the 2:1:1 by any significant amount.
I think it was PA who stated "just eat a steak before you fast", in regards to negating the use of AA's.
So the age old question, do you think it will have any noticeable effect on body composition?
