And then everyone takes off their nostalgia goggles, remembers that that RS is 99% grind and 1% quests and goes back to whatever else they played before.

Too little too late. They already drove away everyone, how can you do this 6 years after it happened when 90% of players complained the first day they changed it. This will be nothing like 07 runescape because it's lost it's community, everyone who isn't 12 left a long time ago.

Not really. The smartest thing they never should have done was release EoC.
And the whole shpeel about not having backups of the older versions of the game? ****ing trash - why can't we have the 2012 version back? You're telling me that Jagex Ltd. doesn't have backups of the game that gives them a large majority of their funds? Bool****. Not even a backup of 2012; something super recent? Horse ****.

I would personally have liked the version of the game THE DAY BEFORE EoC released because EoC killed it for just about most loyal players. (As a casual player, EoC honestly upset me.) This isn't the RS we grew up with. It's turning into something like WoW, which is why people play(ed) it [rs] in the first place; more laid back, less buttons and things to worry about, and for a majority of people, cheaper.

If you're looking to do more complex things in-game, then go against some of the harder bosses that have more complex programming and abilities.

The whole game is a grind. Some of the newer quests are actually quite long, annoying, and to many; difficult.

I always forget the actual math, but if you're training a skill to 99, you're only half way there when you reach level 94 in that skill. Tell me that getting that last few million experience isn't tough; because most people find it to be a ***** lol.

big dot here. With the release of EoC, many of the veteran players (people playing since RS1) quit because the game wasn't what it was supposed to be. It just wasn't RS anymore.

EoC and some of their other endeavors (along with real life responsibilities) is the reason I'm a more casual player now. I don't set my self any in-game goals anymore, like completing a set of tasks or training a certain skill; I do whatever I feel like doing. If I don't feel like playing, I'll waste my life on this website, facebook, and other places lol. (or play Xbox.)

But as an older teenager now (I'm 17) I have more responsibilities than when I was 12. I'm a senior in high school now, I work part-time, I go the gym, and participate in a youth group.

If I get home late, I don't grimace at the thought of not playing, or what I missed/could have done. I'll go to sleep and continue on with my life. If I play, I play; no biggee.

Oh, and for 2007 servers you need to start over from scratch? personally, I've had MANY accounts that I've repeatedly gotten the same, if not more, 99 stats on. I would quit for months at a time, forget my passwords, and restart again. I'm pretty ****ing tired of starting over constantly, so why would I want to play the 2007 server(s) that make me grind again. I'll never get anything done, as I'm lazy with this game now.

This game is nothing but a joke to a lot of serious players now. A lot of people I've talked with only play for ****s and giggles now, because they're more cunning and crafty when it comes to player versus player combat.

I know of 2 people for certain who made MONEY doing that. By staking in game currency, items, or fighting "to the death" in what we all know as the "wilderness," they made REAL MONEY. After amassing massive amounts of in-game currency and rare valuable items, they sold them all to the CHINESE. One of my friends made $6,000 doing this. He put it in the bank for college. My other friend made $22,000 IN ONE TRANSACTION AND BOUGHT A NEW CAR.

lolololol

The ONE thing that they've been doing that I actually liked have been the graphical reworks. Everything they've done looks A LOT better. I haven't played in ~2 weeks, but I've heard that the new slayer tower update looks incredibly good, and their artists and CAD programmers are doing a great job.

No, I just destroyed the thread by saying everything that could have been said so no one else would have to.

**** WoW and new games, I think RuneScape had something going for it. Even for being free, its one of the more interesting MMO's. Sure it is all grind, but WoW is just a different flavor of grind. I think a modern (buy to play) version of this game would be refreshing. We've got plenty of WoW clones on the market, but no modern RS!

I think the model would work well for The Elder Scrolls. Shameless plug:

I'm not saying it was horrible. It's just juvenile.

It did, however, do P2P correctly before it became the cool thing to do.

Even for a mmo, RS has terrible lag problems. I remember PK'in was just whoever could mash the attack button faster.

RS would be better if the skill caps where not retardedly set up and super high (lvl 94 in a skill is HALF WAY to 99 xp wise) and had moar quests.

Maybe your graphics card couldn't handle the level you were playing on? Also, your internet connection may not have been ideal.

The point of the skill needing so much experience to "master" it is to show that you truly have mastered it. If you needed less experience way more people would have them and the game would be too easy. Now the big thing is getting 200m exp (max) in a particular skill. (You only need a little over 13m exp for 99!)

You were bad at PK'ing, what should I say?

Not enough quests? Qft there are too many now lol

I can handle the AMAZING GRAPHICS of rs, I said lag not framerate issues. But speaking of, the game seems to be at 25 FPS if I play on my beefy PC or a lowly tablet.

Mastering a skill is less mastering something and more repeatedly clicking a button. Now, 99 shouldn't be easily obtainable not at all, but it shouldn't take a few months, 7 days a week 20 hours a day.

And PK in 04-07 really was just mash attack and heal. For melee it was literally put on good armor, stock up on food and click once: the game. a few million in looted crap don't lie :v

My memory of RS pking was being afraid of "pures." People would go around in crap armor with a rune axe and have like 90 str and some low attack as their only combat stats. They would smack around people higher level than them without fear, because they hit extremely hard and kill people before they could run. But they never lost anything when they died except the crappy armor. Sometimes it was even robes so they could use prayers for a long time. I guess this was around 2004 or 2005. I only played RS for a year or two, and stopped shortly after members first came out.

And you had to be good at "catching." I have no idea if it was real or not, but people had all kinds of tricks to jump 2 spaces instead of 1 to catch people running away. I remember spinning the camera, running at just the right angles, and left and right clicking to select attack.

Lol look at this craziness:
